Soccer

So does anyone care about soccer. I have played it all my life like golf and I was wondering with the world cup coming preety soon who is a soccer fan. I know it is not a huge sport in USA but it is the most supported sport worldwide and it is growing in the US fast. GO ARSENAL!

My former boss was from Whales so I kinda got into soccer for a while. We would watch English soccer and the World Cup. Kind of lost interest since then, but it is a great sport... requires a high level of fitness and coordination which means I don't play anymore.

I played soccer from the time I could first walk until I took up golf. I was on the varsity team as a freshman, and that was the last year I played. I played every year between them.

Soccer is, even more than baseball, a whole lot more fun to play than to watch on TV (for me). It's not on frequently enough where I live for me to really learn about the players and to make me interested in the individual play, so any match I happen to catch on TV turns into "a bunch of guys I don't know running around, occasionally scoring." Which has its merits, of course, but they're few and far between and thus the match is usually fairly boring.

World Cup is a bit more exciting, and I try to watch some matches.

I will say this. Holland has got one hell of a striker in Ruud van Nistelrooy. He is an excellant striker and he is really fun to watch in the Man U jersey (although i am a HUGE arsenal fan). I hope he has a good World Cup but soccer is not a one man game. USA is in a really tough bracket and if they make it out then they win be slated to win. Do you watch EPL?

Not sure about your version....one guy throws a ball to another guy - he catches and 10 fat guys jump on him! Everyone runs around for 10 minutes "hoopering and hollerin' and high fiveing!!"...not sure why!! And a game timed at 4 quarters of 15 minutes each takes about 6 hours to play??

But you have it right with "cheerleaders!"

Sometimes you play "hockey"..... or "fighting on ice" as we call it here!

Amen! Thats exactly what american football is. "OK guys, we threw that ball 10 yards. Lets sit down and take a drink and a breather!" or better yet "OK we lost the ball, lets put on a whole nother team to defend!"
