Well, first off, I have played this league a little crazier than others so far, and I kept it this way this week. I haven't picked Tiger so far, and I didn't want to waste over 18% on Vijay this week. Plus, it would have been too boring.

You have to read my preview to see why I picked Campbell and Kuehne. J/K, I know you have, but that explains them.

Howell was a solid pick definitely IMO, even if he didn't play worth a flip here last year. I think he has the game to win this tournament.

Dudley Hart just fit the money I had left, and he had a top 10 finish here last year and has always played decent in Houston.

So that's my explanation and I'm sticking to it. And it's only a matter of time before I start slipping down the leaderboard anyway. I've been running on luck up to this point.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I didn't want to pick David Toms either. He don't have much distance, and he hasn't played consistently at all this year.

Ok, Hank Kuehne is having a "David Duval" start, and it's not looking good for me now. I'm just coming back to the field, that's all.

Has Kuehne even made a cut this whole year?

Anyway, I'm really one to talk with my performance this weekend. At least I have Vijay...

I'm happy to be at -12 after the first round. There's a -13 and a -16 out there, though...

I made up a little ground on y'all, I guess... I'm at -31. Jumped ahead of Raf and Ben today with the -10, but Blake is still tied, JH and Jeff and Aaron are still ahead, Todd's still tied, and Jason's continues to do well along with Tony. I'm middle of the pack, really.

But that's ok. My guys all had off days.

I'm thrilled to have three golfers playing on Sunday and actually have a score equal to and above some people. I've had a miserable start to this segment. Here's hoping tomorrow will mark the start of a major turnaround for me.

Well, I had a great start to the segment, but I came back to reality this week. I was actually thrilled to have -8 today with only 2 guys playing. That wasn't bad at all, and if I can get another day like that tomorrow, I will still escape with the overall lead I think. If I have a rough day though, I may get passed by a few people.

By the way, happy birthday Aaron! Hope you had a good one.

I've gotta give credit to ol' Jeff Smith. -44 is incredible.

But I'm quite pleased with my T2 this week. Take that, Ben and Rafcin!

As Erik predicted last Thursday, it wasn't pretty for Team Thrasher this week. I think I was lucky to even make it to -30 overall, but then again, if Chad Campbell would have made the cut (missed it by 1), it could have been a little better. That is just the way it goes.

The important thing is the fact I had a bad week (mentally), and I am still in the lead overall. It will not happen again......hopefully.

I think most teams in this league are probably happy I picked who I did this past week because the race for first got a lot closer due to my piss poor finish. Business definitely picked up in the Sand Trap league.

Great job Jeff, you definitely picked the top two guys for the week. And good to the other guys who finished better than -40.

How about that. And to think I almost didn't take John Daly. I said to him under my breath, "Don't choke on me John" and he sure didn't. Not bad at all.

Yeah, I just don't pick Toms much. He has been so up and down, but he does usually get some birdies at least. And as for me, anytime Matt Davidson gives you a -1 round of 71, you have to see it as a positive!! I have to admit, I have never heard of the poor guy, but maybe he will at least make the cut for me. I'm definitely feeling a better week coming than last week, although it won't take much..

You aren't the only one who was made about that. I was walking by the practice greens this morning and overheard one of the PGA Tour staff on a walkie-talkie saying that Elkington hadn't shown and they'd need a replacement. The guy on the other end said something and then the guy I was close to said, "Would've been nice to have some notice. Oh well, no big loss."

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
