Is there anybody here who has had an ace, or seen one, (other than on television or at a PGA tournament)? I've never had one, but I did witness one on the 160 yard 5th hole of Dell Urich, (formerly known as Randolph South Municipal), Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona about 10 years ago. I recall remarking to the guy that he just hit a great shot when the ball rolled into the hole about a half second later. I've heard the chances of scoring an ace for us amateurs is something like 1 in 10,000, and for Tiger and friends about 1 in 3000. I'd like to see a few more of those, maybe even get one myself someday.

Seen a 200 Yard eagle. That was fun.

I've seen an ace that didn't happen...

Short 136 Yard Par 3.. Dude hits it solid and it's headed right for the hole. Bounces once and we all watch it go right into the hole. Dude turns around and we're all high fiving him when one of the guys notices the hitters ball lying next to the cup. We *think* it bounced in, circled around for at least a second and then found it's way out again.

Worst birdie I've ever seen.

For some reason I've always had an affinity for par 4 eagles and par 5 alby's. Just the fact that you're hitting off the deck and not a fluffed tee. But they seem more common than aces.

hahaha, I wish I did, but no it was a friend of my mine at Virginia Tech who was close to a scratch. He got bent when he hit it in the water casually tossed another ball on the tee box and without going through any routine proceeds to hole it out.

None here, but saw THREE last year! One was my league night partner in 40 degrees/rain weather. Hits the front, uphill aproach to the green ... ball pops up and tracks about 3' into the hole!

Second one we saw playing golf in FL. We're teeing off and behind us is a green that offered a perfect west to east tee shot. Since it was about 8:45 in the morning, the guy who hit the shot directly into the sun didn't see it at all. I turned around just in time to see his shot (8-iron length hole) pull back and find the bottom of the cup!

Last one was a 4-some, two husband/wife pairs. Woman tees off on a 120 yard (ladies tee) par three with a driver. Ball never made it more than a foot off the ground ... straight at the green. Hits pin hard and drops straight into the hole. Everyone in her group is freaking out. She says, 'is that good?'

Maybe a hole-in-one is getting closer to me finally! I'd like to make one!

I'm about a 20 handicap but yes I had one on a 138 yard par 3 using a 8 iron.

Sad thing is, my score was horribe.

I've seen two and had one myself.

Mine was 151y 7i, and was a disappointment, because teh hole was a little uphill, and we saw it bounce and head *toward* the hole, but we couldn't see for sure that it was in till we got there..... (The disppointment didn't last long; I wouldn't take it back.... )

My buddies and I have a "walk-off" rule ... if we ever hit an ace we are leaving our clubs right were they are ... going to the green, retrieving the ball, and walking off the course and will never play again ... it's the greatest accomplishment in amature golf ... we'd have to quit since we wouldn't ever be able to accomplish anything better than that. Kinda going out on top if you will ...

... I know it sounds stupid, and the more we talk about it we even think it's dumb ... I doubt we will ever do it, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there ...
