Steve, the 983k is an excellent driver.

Couldn't of been said any better. I still have a 983K with a YS 6 shaft. Great head for older model. I won't get rid of mine. If ya want to try something bigger AND better, getcha the one in my sig. and avatar. LONG and FORGIVING!!!

i have a friend like you that hasn't developed a taste for the bigger drivers for whatever reason, looks, etc, the problem is you're seriously undercutting yourself by not using one. I just barely got a 907 D1 in the mail this week off of ebay for 125$ serious smoking deal and i am absolutely blown away by the forgiveness. max moi is where its at, titleist or whatever brand and you need to get on board if you want to drop strokes. i hit 5 out of 7 fairways in 9 holes tonight and i have never done that.

The 983K was the first driver I used, a free gift from a friend. It was a big step up from my 3 wood and felt great to hit. I think it was a perfect stepping stone to a 460cc. Once I got comfortable with the 983K, I started trading accuracy for distance. When I couldn't push it any further, I switched to a 460cc which allowed me to maintain (and gain) distance while adding more forgiveness.

Hold onto the 983K until your swing develops, then invest in the newest technology and watch them fly consistently long and straight. Like someone posted earlier, after hitting a smaller head for a year, a 460cc seems like a toy.

Thanks everyone for the advice and comments on the 983K. I really like mine and once I learned how to swing more correctly it has became much easier to him than my 3 wood. I eventually want to go to another driver later on especially if the larger 460's are more forgiving and longer.

I played yesterday with 2 other guys and it was the first time I used my 983K they really liked the way I have improved. On several holes I was as long as they were, one was using a 907 D2 and the other was using a Ping G10. Both are excellent golfers.
