I played the original r7 TP driver until the Superquad TP came out, I never tried the 425's or 460's series...wasn't interested....I have an option to grab a Tour Burner TP, r7 Limited, or the new Burner that just came out...anybody have any inout on these new drivers? i keep hearing that the tour burner TP hits further than the r7's? Most importantly for me is consistancy and accuracy, not so much distance, I don't have a problem in that area...but i f I could gain an advantage with 15 - 30 more yards, what the hell, it's worth it, any info is greatly appreciated..

I dont see people really gaining 30 more yards by switching drivers. Not when you are a 6. I recommend going to a local Edwin Watts or Golfsmith and hitting them on the launch monitor. See which one feels the best or if they feel better than the one you are hitting.

I would say most of those clubheads are gonna give you the same results, maybe the burner gives you 5 yards or something, but I would think if you don't already have a shaft that fits you and you find one, then you would gain some yards, but your not gonna get any more yards because of a new driver. Over the last 5 years, the average distance on the tour has only gone up 1 yard a year.

Thanks guys...maybe I was exaggerrating by saying 30 yards extra, only reason i asked was because more than one guy at the local edwin watts dealer said that the yards difference is drastic between the tour burner tp's and r7's tp's. but we know how salesman are...

I just got the r7 Limited last Friday right when it came out and loved it. I'm actually a high handicapper, but you can tell the difference with this club on the feel/control. I went through a Regular Superquad 10.5 and didn't really like it that much. I changed to the Tour Burner for 5 months and got rid of it before the value drops even more and because the r7 Limited looks like something you can play for a while with the MWT.

I picked up the R7 Limited Stiff/9.5 but not only do I crush it, but I'm very consistent with it. If you are going to get one, I would highly recommend this one as it even has an open face. So pretty much TP already. For $399, the juice is worth the squeeze. I'm definitely keeping this driver for a while and learning the Stack & Tilt, so my handicap will come down for sure.

If you're still unsure, you should definitely try out all 3 at a Launch Monitor to see what happens. Or if you are near a Rodger Dunn or Golfsmith, you have 90 days to try it out anyway.

i have the tour burner and ive hit the TP version also, but i like how i had a draw with the Tour burner. Ill give you the pros and cons to the tour burner, the superquad, but i dont have info on the R7 limited. sorry.

Pros to the Burner: longer distance, straighter shots, triangular set up is nice, high club head speed, great forgiveness

cons to the burner: no feel at all, you can't feel the ball hit the club. hard to hit anything besides your normal shot shape.

R7 superquad pros: incredible workability, and ability to control trajectory, and great feel.

cons: loss of distance, not forgiving, would not recommend it unless u hit 10 fairways per round.

LOVE My Tour burner
by my friend says he loves his superquad more

I agree with C Salcedo. I've played all 3 like I mentioned and to me, the R7 Limited takes the benefits of the Superquad and Tour Burner and puts it in one driver. You get the workability plus the same shape as the tour burner...

Let us know what you decide on

From what I have read and seen, it seems like the new Burner is just the same technology as the last one ('07) with the crown and club-head shape as the Tour Burner.

Here's what I play:

Same I have read as well. It is the combination of both clubs, which should be pretty awesome as I still think the 07 Burner is the best driver TalorMade has come out with.

Thanks guys, I'll let ya know what I go with and what I get out of them when I try them, I have a feeling I'll be going witht he r7 Limited though....Seems like r7 series(exluding the MWT) are always simliar to Titleist drivers in that they are more of a players design and feel club, not a grip it and rip it club, and I'm more partial to Workability, just curious about distance enhancement

Alright so I went with the Tour Burner Tp from earlier this year that everybody on tour is using. I hit all of them. The R7 Limited looks identical to the tour Burner Tp, except for the weights on the bottom. I'm not fond of the new burner driver, plus there are no TP versions available yet for the Limited or the New burner. So I got a seet deal on Tour Burner TP 8.5 degree head, and i'm going to put a UST Proforce V2 in it. So far, i'm pleased with the rombax 75 X though so we'll see...thanks agin for all the input!

    • Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.
    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
