I have a red shirt and black slacks reminiscent of TW. However, I do not wear it on the course, as you can see from my handicap. When I see someone wear the TW banner of Red/Black, I expect to see a show of ultimate skill.

I was just eating dinner and looking out of my kitchen, I saw the Red and Black Banner of TW. I ran upstairs to watch him play from 150 yards in. Approach shot was to the right into a hill. He chipped and made a two putt. I didn't see his performance from the start of the hole, but based upon his approach shot - it must have been at least two to get to where he was.

Do you ever wear a red shirt and black pants when you play?

I have. I sometimes wear black or dark gray pants with a red dri-fit Nike sweater I have. I seem to play better when I look good out on the course. It's all in the confidence and mental aspect.

I wore black pants with a red shirt today. While Tiger wears that on Sundays, I didn't know he was the only one allowed to wear it? Either that or I didn't get the memo that you needed a certain handicap in order to wear that color combination.

No one said you did. The guy was posting his opinion.

I have never wore red/black while playing. I don't like red to begin with, but I do think a lot of people would snicker at someone wearing that color combo.

As I think about it, I have. (Not intentionally.)

Nonetheless, I can promise you, for some strange reason, the combo has no magical powers. (I may be negating the effect with my pastel pink shoes.)

I have a red shirt, but I don't like black pants. I wear slightly dark khaki pants.

I have worn red shirt and black pants on Sunday since 1981. Tiger stole the idea from me.

Now we know the secret.

--- I didn't think it was a rule on the red/black combo and golf handicaps. I just made an observation of Tiger's tradition of wearing that combo. Many of his competitors wear the same combo, too.

I prefer wearing neutral, earthy colors on the golf course just in case I'd want to run into the woods and hide after a really bad shot.

I'm a KC Chiefs fan! So I wear red also. They suck this year but look out in a couple years! We still have red fridays, even when they are losing. I'll wear red as quick as I'll wear any other color on the golf course. I definitely don't think I am Tiger, I've been wearing red to golf in since the late '70s. I've worn black pants with the red but usually wear pants with a brown hue to them. Not that I have a golf pallette My alma mater wears red too, obviously. Gotta love schools with red in their color scheme!

It's an interesting fact, Tiger is the only player to ever wear a red shirt and black pants, and he's the only one that can do it on tour anymore.

Yes, I wear what looks good.
If that appeals to my eyes that day, then I wear it.

I'm not a red kind of guy--especially shirts & especially to golf. As a 6'3"-ish 190-ish black guy who plays golf & just happens to have been a Nike fan since Michael Jordan, I get enough grief with the comparison as it is. It's irritating as hell. And believe me, once I start to play & dribble a couple off the tee, they stop with the "Tiger" comments. --LBB

    • Better late than never.  I got The Stack System over 2 years ago.  Problems with ruptured tendon and bone-on-bone knee stopped me from using it.  Foot was a year to full recovery.  Had the knee done in January.  This weekend was first full swings in quite a while, With spring here (at least according to the calendar) I’m finally going to do the program.  It’s 32 degrees with flurries tonight so I’m not sure exactly when I will start but should be soon.

Since 98% of a ball's distance inside of about 150 yards is determined... The ShotScope LM1 is a $200 launch monitor that made waves last fall and at the PGA Show in January. Think of it like the PRGR or the Stack radar, but in a different form factor and with a better display. It's also got a rechargeable battery (no messing around with AA or AAA batteries), and a bigger, brighter, multi-color screen over the greyscale LCD on those units. I believe it still uses the same algorithms to "guess" at the distance given the club you've chosen, assuming a relatively moderate launch angle. I do not believe it measures your "VLA" (vertical launch angle). As we know from Dr. Sasho MacKenzie, ball speed for shots 150 yards and shorter accounts for about 98% of the distance the ball travels, assuming you didn't blade the bejeezus out of it, so the LM1 can, like other simple launch monitors, really help you dial in your distance wedges. I don't think ShotScope is honoring discount codes yet (you're free to try clicking the link and using the codes in the sidebar here at TST), and it's sold out for now anyway. But, you can sign up to be notified when it's back in stock. I'll update this thread as I continue to test the unit, but so far I really like: Ease of setup and use. The quality, brightness, and colors of the display. Battery life seems adequate. I'm not sure about five hours, but… it'll last well over a full session. The battery charges quickly and with a standard USB-C cable. I had some difficulties inside when players were hitting drivers into a net 13 or 14 feet away. Many swings reported 35 MPH, or 38, or 32. My hunch was that it was seeing the speed the screen moved, perhaps, as we tried a number of configurations. It was a solid screen, not a net, and later testing to an archery net that was 35 feet away yielded consistent and reasonable numbers every time.
