Any shoe that's comfortable first, waterpoof second and not white second A. Currently I have a pair of Ecco's but I'm not loyal to any one brand. I had an awesome pair of Adidas (laceless) that they stopped making and when it was time for new shoes I went with Adidas that had some plastic power traction band thingy. The location of it turned my left heel into hamburger in six holes of my third round in them. Luckily they were still under the 30 Day MBG and I got to swap them out for the Ecco's I have.

H-

That's exactly the reason I love my Ecco Flexors (3 pair and counting.) Only shoe that has ever truly fit my feet. Sadly, the 2009 Flexor models look kinda ugly to me. I'm hoping they have more versions than the ones I have seen.

I have a pair of adidas ones that I wear because I got them free brand new from my aunt's friend. They fit, they're comfortable and they're in good condition still. Kinda want some new shoes but of course there's the new putter first, and the new 3 wood, and the new irons...

Ecco. Flexor line.

Love your style

Harry Longshanks . It's Ecco all the way. They're great, even down to the part where the side of the tongue is connected to the rest of the shoe to make it totally waterproof. .... and as with most things, you get what you pay for. [I'll just put up the sandbags now because my radar says I'm about to be bombarded with Footjoy incoming]

Not gonna throw anything at you! Eccos feel better than Footjoys, but not $100/pair better.

Understand your point

ClairefromClare . My suggestion is to keep your eye out for reductions. That's what I did & got a great deal on an end of season model. Now I'm hooked with my Eccos. Quality, quality, quality. To be fair, I do concede that Footjoys are a quality shoe also.

I'm done with Footjoys.....okay, there....I've said it. I've had numerous pairs over the years and they all wind up loose and roll to the outside sooner than any shoe I own.

I've been extremely pleased with my first pair of Nike shoes...bought them recently on sale for half what my last pair of FJs went for. Very stable, great golf shoe.

I'll buy Nike again.

Just like the commercial used to say...

"How do you break in a pair of FootJoys... Just take them out of the box"...

I have a really short wide foot (8 XW), and I know I can order a pair of FootJoys off the internet, and they will fit, right out of the box!

I currently have Nike's and they are fine but I have been eye balling the Footjoy ReelFit shoes. Seems like a great concept. Anyone have those?

    • Day 175: 6/15/24 Putting practice through gates, and some chipping indoors.
    • Yeah, watched Geoff Ogilvy's bit on Fried Egg about his conversation with some bogey golfer finding #2 most fun to play and the irony in it being so.  Makes sense.
    • So, I think the idea behind it is that the ball is not perfectly smooth (obviously). So, on shorter putts, it is better to hit that point on the ball because it gets the ball into a better roll. You are not compressing the ball with a short putt, so it would act more similar to if you were hitting let's say a 100 sided dice. On longer putts, you might be compression the ball so more of the ball impacts the club face and then that single point doesn't matter.  It might be something he made up, could be a confidence thing, could be a legit thing. Maybe it matters more with how good the greens they putt on.  Also, we are talking about a single point here, and the putter face angle, path, ect.. will change a bit on each putt. So, it isn't like you are hitting that spot exactly in the same way.  Not sure it is worth the effort with so many variables in play.
    • Looking at the aerial, there is very few holes were short is bad. You can always putt from off the green, so it makes the short game easier. I can see where the big number is out more often. It's not really a course where you can easily go low at either. The sand down there is super easy to play out of.
    • Yeah, even Jamie doesn't really push (forward) with the right leg here, so I bumped on his use of that phrase/term early as well. They get away from it, though, and when they show the movements it's more obvious that's not what he's talking about. I sometimes wish there was a better term because, as you note, it often leads to people trying to actually "push" with their right leg.
