The quote from Ayers was "I wish I would've done more." Since he was protesting the Vietnam war, a lot of people interpret that quote as, "I wish I would have done more for the cause" or "I wish I would have done more useful, positive, actually helpful things" but not necessarily, "I wish I would have bombed more." Maybe that's what he meant. Asking Obama doesn't seem to be the way to find out, though.

I think McCain clearly won tonights debate. In debate number 2, I thought that McCain lost. This may help close the gap.

I actually think Obama did better. McCain just seemed scared and edgy to me.

But don't listen to my opinion. Here are the poll results for "who won": MSNBC: Obama 55% McCain 23% CNN: Obama 58% McCain 31%

I hope for his sake he doesnt considering Ayers said that he wishes there would be more bombings.

And this stems from a NY Times story in...2001. The exact quote was that he did not regret bombing the buildings. If you read the entire article, he recites a poem that deals with someone seeking forgiveness. That's never mentioned. Neither is Obama's statement that he considers Ayer's acts, despicable. Obama also stepped foot in Ayer's house in 1995. Why? Because Alice Palmer was stepping down as State Senator and she was taking the opportunity to introduce Barack Obama as her chosen successor.

I agree, and would add "grumpy" and "persnickety" to the adjectives. It is obvious that he has a personal dislike for Obama and he doesn't seem to be able to veil it. It turns people off.

But don't listen to my opinion. Here are the poll results for "who won":

And the Luntz focus group on FOX news of all places was almost unanimous in saying that Obama won. Not a single person offered the opinion that McCain did.

If Obama wins, I think this factor can't be down-played.

Obama handed McCain's ass to him on a platter in the debate last night. I can't believe the polls of who won were so close (not that they were really close, I expected more of a landslide), especially on MSNBC.

Unfortunately, the people who don't know any better watched this and thought "Obama has all the answers." When really he is just great talker, just like Clinton. Awesome language skills. I don't see how he is not going to win in November, I just hope he doesn't mess things up too bad before the Republicans get back in. Mainly, please don't open up the borders and let the illegals who are here stay and become citizens just because they are here. Don't follow Canada's lead on health care. Don't redistribute income. Most everything else I can live with but these are the three main issues for me.

Every few years, the people get disenchanted and want change, look at who has been in office since LBJ left office and it's 28 years to 12 in favor of the Republicans. Bad times make people change who they want in, but it always seems to come back to the Republican side. Looks like it's one of those years. Even going back to JFK it's still 28-20. Again, I hope he doesn't do too much . . . unfortunately he'll have the Congress to help. I'm still voting, and I think you know who I am voting for. Unless that Ireland/England golf trip for two comes through!

...Looks like it's one of those years. Even going back to JFK it's still 28-20...

And by the end of 2016, it'll be 28-28

What happened in last night's debate was pretty much the same stuff I've seen in the first two debates. What bothered me most was that both candidates said the bare minimum in regards to our current economic crisis. Obama still can't come up with a few programs he insists he will cut because 'they don't work' and McCain supposedly figured out a way to institute a spending freeze while funding programs that address the people of America with special needs. It was nice, though, that this debate addressed education more so than in the previous debates. It's a problem this country really needs to remedy since No Child Left Behind obviously is NOT working (I suppose that's one program Obama would either reform or replace).

I don't hear any new information in that report and just more dishonest spinning of the nature of the association.

I've linked this before, but I think this fact check is useful to those trying to sort out this Ayers stuff: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2...ill_ayers.html

Man, I really don't want to be in the business of defending the destruction of government property and I'm not, I condemn the bombings... but DDBowdoin the above statement is completely over the board and untrue.

McVeigh wanted to kill people and did -- he killed lots of them including small children. The Weather Underground wanted to kill NO ONE, and never did. Well, some of their own people died in trying to make bombs - perhaps a Darwin award is in order. In every case they sent warning far in advance so that the targets would be evacuated. Malicious destruction? Yes. Criminal? Certainly. The same as Timothy McVeigh? You have seriously got to be kidding.

That's over the top even by "McCain supporter" standards .. which really requires quite a bit of effort.

I think Joe the plumber

should pay his current taxes like everybody else. Also, I think this whole thing is bullshit, because if everything he has said about the company is true, he would receive a tax break , not an increase. The company he talks about does not make $250k in net profits . And even if it did, provided he had no other taxable income, he would only see an increase of $0 to $900. Hardly enough to make any significant difference with regards to his ability to hire new employess or run the business.

LMAO! I don't know how you find these things. It'd be hilarious if his new notoriety got him a stint in jail.
