...or is my heart beating faster and faster as we approach Nov. 4th? I think I'm gonna end up going through a carton of cigarettes tomorrow.

I find it hideously dull. Even though I'm a Democrat, I enjoyed the build up to 2000 and 2004 much more. There was legit doubt in the outcome both times, particularly 2000. In 2004, Bush always had the trump card advantage of being an incumbent with his party in power only one term, but there was potential for his approval rating to fall low enough to blow it.

This cycle there was never any question the Democratic nominee had a massive advantage. Make no mistake, Hillary would be leading by wide margin also. The specific states would look a bit different, more Hillary strength in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Arkansas, and less strength than Obama in places like Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana and Colorado, but the bottom line would be virtually identical. That's particularly true since Hillary could have taken even greater advantage of the economic collapse than Obama has.

Tomorrow I'll follow the tight senate races like Minnesota, the toss up gov races in North Carolina and Washington, and dozens of close House races. Otherwise the presidential race is a snore. When the dilemma is whether Obama can win among North Carolina, Missouri, Montana or Indiana, that means the vital states toward 270 electoral votes have long since fallen his way.

This is the comically pathetic aspect, the Republican pundits and partisans who are begging for God to intervene on McCain's behalf. I actually heard that many times today. Bey Buchanon said it on CNN. A CSPAN caller was telling everyone to get on their knees and pray for McCain. I've seen the same theme on several message boards.

So if Obama wins, are we going to be mad at God? Perhaps God is annoyed at the course of the nation and planet the last 8 years, so an Obama victory is his chosen path. I'm not trying to make any sense. But it's no less ridiculous than what I've encountered today.

If Bush had managed bare minimal competence the past 8 years, Jeb would be the GOP nominee, and cruising to a somewhat comfy win. Ineptitude is rewarded with a kick out the door.

My state could be the scene of a couple of upsets tomorrow, so there's definitely enough interest for me to stay awake well into the night as the votes are tallied. Most importantly, I want to see the speeches the two candidates will be giving their supporters once the winner becomes apparent. One will make a declaration of victory; the other, concession. Either way, history will be made tomorrow night.

Umm... Not exactly. It's not arresting prostitutes when they come forward to report a crime i.e. rape.

Don't you think that it gives more incentive for prostitution to occur among those that would be willing to do such things? I dunno - I think its bogus.

Leave it to San Francisco to get nationwide attention. SF has a few interesting ballot propositions this time through. It isn't legalizing prostitution - my understanding is that it keeps the police from making arrests for it under some circumstances. I didn't read too much into it, seeing as how I'm not in San Francisco, or even nearby.

I'm also excited for the radio ads to stop. Seems every commercial break, I hear at least one proposition ad. I wonder if they'll still be playing tonight.

Rape is a much bigger problem than prostitution. I'd rather that prostitutes feel safe to help prosecute rapists. Realistically, I think the impact on the decision to sell sex or not is probably completely negligible.

Good point. Though I guess its gonna end up being one of those chicken/egg debates. Will there be less rapes/crimes because prostitutes won't be scared to call the authorities or will there be more rapes/crimes because prostitutes will use PropK as insurance.

I can honestly say in that in the short span my law enforcement career has had, I have never seen us prosecute a prostitute nor an illegal alien for reporting a crime. Having said that if a prostitute does report a rape it is very unlikely that the defendant will be found guilty in court. Even a half witted defense attorney is going to make the "victim" prostitute out to be of "questionable" character in court and with juries this has a huge impact.
