In regards to the putter in my sig. I would like to swap out the weights, other than sending the putter to the Cameron Custom Shop, what options do I have? How hard are the weights to change out, is this a probable or smart DIY project?

Also any suggestions of purchase sites would be nice.

Thanks

-Adam

Thanks, I did see those I'm just curious as to how they'll mesh since they are not OEM parts.

I dont think the un-titliest weights will really make a difference, but if you think they do you could also just buy the wrench from that link, and buy oem weights.

Not sure where you'd find OEM weights.

What is the fee to have The Custom Shop make the change for you???

I've gotta say this....it really seems to me that PING got it right with their new series. You can make some serious adjustments to their new wands.

It's not a big issue for me as I bought the desired weight and length to fit me and don't really have any desire to change it.....scared it'd change the pace and feel too much.

Only from the custom shop.

It's a bit more than I would like to spend but not out of the question my biggest concern is loosing my putter for a week or two though I have plenty more, they just aren't my gamers.

I did to at the time but the game/swing is evolving with lessons, and I'd like to cut the putter down and add some weight as I'm choking down on it a bit much right now, and cutting it will change the swing weight.

I'll probably just give the non OEM parts a shot, I can always put the old ones back in if I want to change the putter. OTOH I could just buy that fastback I want with the proper weighting, someone please talk me out of doing that ;)

Well I traded in some clubs at the local Roger Dunn and walked away with a Squareback for about $50. I still love the SS Newport and I would like to tinker with it so I bought the weights from the link above, except I got the 25g weights. These will replace the 10g weights I have now. I'll let you guys know how they work out.

The weights from the e-bay sight work great. I have a newport where i have a 15g weight in the toe and a 25g weight in the heel. When I putt poorly, I tend to shove the ball. This weight configuration really helps in releasing the putterhead through the ball.

Did you ever think about adding lead tape to the bottom of the club. Its a cheap and effective way of moving weight to the bottom of the club

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Do you realize the amount of lead tape it would take to add 30 grams of weight (in the proper proportion) to a putter? I'm not a club fitter/designer and the amount of tape it take would not only make the putter look garish but likely change the sweet-spot. I like the route I took. Thanks.

30 grams.. it depends on how the lead tape is applied. If the tape is hammered onto the bottom of the putter head-i see no reason why you couldnt get 30 grams down there. But by adding this weight you are lowering the center of gravity on the roll. For optimal roll- i would suggest adding lead tape to the perimeter of the club. If you are not concerned with asthetics it would work just fine.

I am concerned with looks, not obsessed, but hammering lead tape into a $300.00 putter? No thanks. I'm not sure you realize how much 30 grams is either, could I do it, yes....but properly, I don't think so. I don't trust the human eye to add lead tape in the proper proportions, measurements or amount. Since I've already made my decision your suggestions are moot at this point, but thanks.

No problem- I hammer lead tape onto my vokey design 56..By doing this--i have created a wedge that will dig more- and be prone to sidespin of the ball. With a putter like yours-weight has been distributed around the perimeter--so if you would add 30 grams it would have to covered in tape around the edges. I would not recommend this-but seeing that you have arrived at your decision--it is a very wise one-instead of adding lead tape

I've only practiced with it I have not had a twirl with it on the course yet. Having said that it's from the same line as my Newport and it plays just as well, except better....well it feels better, I expect it to play better. That's not to say it's better than my Newport, just better for me, I got fitted this time. It's heavier and an inch shorter. I've also found it a little easier to line up because of the larger flange and slght line. Other than that I don't have much more to say about it yet, it's got the same soft feel and smooth roll as my Newport. I will let you know how it works out if you'd like.

I've always gone back and forth between large mallets and blades, this seems like a good medium to me - so I'm excited to see how it goes.

    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
    • So, Brendan Sorsby, Texas Tech transfer QB, was found guilty of sports betting by the NCAA. He admitted to it. He placed thousands of bets over multiple years while at Indiana and Cincinnati. This included betting on his own teams.  The NCAA rules ban athletes from betting on any sport (college or pro).  A retired visiting judge from Tarrant County, Texas has put an injunction on the NCAA ruling. He is a visiting judge because the first judge was a graduate and big fan of Texas Tech, and he recused himself. The judged ruled the following... "Under Curry's order, Sorsby is permitted to play for Texas Tech's 2026 season on the condition that he continues his treatment for a gambling and anxiety disorder and serves a two-game suspension (missing games against Abilene Christian and Oregon State)."  Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly care for the NCAA. That still doesn't mean that a college can choose when or where to say, "Yea we agree to these rules for all our sports, well except in this case." Here is a breakdown from S&W. The Hidden Weapon in Sorsby’s Injunction: How a Lubbock County Court Order Quietly Neutralized the NCAA’s Most Powerful Enforcement Tool - Law Offices of Snell & Wilmer By Ryan J. Regula On June 8, 2026, Lubbock County District Court Judge Ken Curry issued a temporary injunction in Brendan Sorsby v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, Cause No. DC-2026-CV-0791 (99th Judicial District... The main judgement made sense. Sorsby, I am going to have all this harm done to me if I don't get to play. The Judge, I agree. The penalty for gambling is too harsh, so here are all these things you must do, and I will grant this injunction against the NCAA. Basically, an analogy would be when a person goes into court for a DUI and they agree to all these other things to not end up in jail.  What sucks for the NCAA is the NCAA has appealed to Texas’ Seventh Court of Appeals, based in Amarillo. All four justices that preside over the court are graduates of Texas Tech University School of Law. It would be hilarious if all four of them had to recuse themselves 🤣. For those who like to read legal rulings...
    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
