Now, I'm not suggesting this be the only criteria, just an added impartial influence.

That wouldn't work because you could make a post like the one "gangsta" guy that gets a lot of responses because of the poor quality of the post.

First, I don't know of gansta's post. Provocation is not necessarily bad. And a poor quality of post should fall in the jurisdiction of the moderator. If a post generates a magnitude of response then it hit a nerve good or bad. However, if that post violates policy, the option to remove it is in place and would be exercised. It would then no longer be in the pool anyway. I'm not an advocate of censorship but I do recognize rights of ownership. In this case TST. More valuable, I think, is impartiality.

As a weighted piece of the whole solution, valuing the views and responses to a post is at the core of forums in general - readership and discussion. If a post generates a high volume of readership and discussion hasn't it earned the author some measure of reward? Six of TST's nine categories are directly based on the contributions of it's members. From the number and content of the replies to this thread, might it be worth a deeper look into how it weighs in the progress of member status?

Thanks for listening

It earns them the reward of starting a good discussion. If in the context of that discussion they earn reputation points, so be it.

But a thread with 2000 responses might all be responding to post #2. Post #1 might have been tame and boring. So there are plenty of problems with rewarding people based on the metric you've proposed.

I don't know what you mean by six of nine. It's a forum - almost everything is based on "contributions."

Regardless, we don't have any plans to put this kind of metric in place. The Established Member group is also different than Reputation, which you can read about here .

Thanks.

Erik, today I found that I was able to edit my UserTitle.

IIRC, this is only possible to Established Members? If yes - my "sign" still says Registered User.

(I should meet all 3 EM-criterias, afaik).

thx and greetings

michi

iacas Thanks a lot

Having read the rules re: our advertising, you decided to breach them.

I mean, thanks for the Supporter status, but you don't just get to violate the rules for advertising because you contributed $36.

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.
