What would make this site better to you?

I have some thoughts, but I've wondered how others feel. I frequent many forums (NCAA football and another golf one) and this one is unique in a certain way.

hmm, good question. one thing i DO like about this site is from what i have seen so far, mods dont seem to threaten posters like they do over at wrx constantly if you disagree with them. of course i havent been a member here very long, so im not positive about that, but everyone seems friendlier here. i have noticed a few threads being closed a tad early that in my opinion could've stayed open, but then again, this isnt my house and i dont make the rules... as far as what would make this a better site than it already is, Im not real sure yet. maybe make it easier to upload large photos instead of having to have them posted on a site like Flickr first? not a big deal really, just kind of a hassle for people like me who dont know about stuff like that (but Erik walked me thru the process so Im cool with it now)... again, im a new member here, and from what ive seen so far, i cant really think of anything. so i guess this post didnt really help you any, heh...

This site is really good. There is alot of freedom here, which is great. The community is friendly, opinionated, and thick-skinned.

I would like to see regional threads for golf courses and golf course reviews (separate the golf course discussions by region) I suppose this would be more feasible as the site grows. This would enable searching for golf course reviews and potential playing partners easier.
Proposed regions.
UK, western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, Australia
North East, South East, Midwest, Central Plains, South West, Mountain West, Pacific Coast, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii,

I disagree; I think the moderators let some things slide that they shouldn't let slide. But it's not my forum so I don't have any real complaints. I'm not sure I'm comfortable coming to a forum that's 100% free, is probably a lot of work for the ones who own and run the forum, and then complaining and, sort of going behind the owners/runners/moderators backs to try to change things that have probably been considered by the owners/runners/moderators. Just my 2-cents worth.

Good point, and I almost commented earlier. The Grill room is sort of a catch all--both good and bad. I suppose I would have posted the thread either here or in "golf talk"

If you get people saying moderation is too tight, and others saying it is too lax, then the answer is probably that it's just right! I think this place strikes a good balance - there's freedom but not anarchy.

As for what would make this place better? I don't know. I have no complaints. Well let me think...

I used to go on the golf forums for The Golf Channel and ESPN, and this one is much better. Less chatter. More informative threads and posts. Iacas does a good job. I really cannot think of any improvements.

I think this site is tons better than many of the other forums I have visited. It is fast and easy to navigate, and there are many knowledgeable people here to answer questions. It would be nice if some of the members would keep a better mind of where to post new topics. Too many times it seems like any new threads end up in 'golf talk' instead of where they should be. On that note I think it would be good to have some additional sub-forums. I don't know what they would be exactly. Maybe a 'rules' area in golf talk, or separate areas in equipment for irons, drivers, etc. Then maybe make some of the more popular threads 'sticky' so the same topics don't keep coming up. It is frustrating to see the same topics come up every month. Of course if we could all do a search before starting a new thread that could take care of some of it.

This is just a thought but I think it would be cool if the message board has a Bargain Alert section . Strictly golf related deals and no ebay or craigslist just brick & mortar and online retailers.

i.e. Somebody finds a deal on Dozen Pro V1x balls for $15.00 then post it on the Bargain Alert section so that other members can get in on the deal.

Just an idea but I think it would awesome as hell though.

I think this site is pretty real good.

There is an enormous amount of info here (not just in the forum).

One of the things I would like to see changed is the "time out" time extended. I can't tell you how many times I have written a response to a thread, to find out I have been signed out! Not the end of the world, but I minor inconvenience.

Second, I would like to see the "Atta Boy" Chiclets come back. I think, If a person is a wealth of information, and really helps a lot of folks with what they write, I think that should be noted, and the opposite also, when someone is a chronic pain in the.......

Third, I would really like to see the SEARCH function "beefed up". It's nice to be able to search for things, but, the search (to me) seems too elementary. That is to say, if I want to search for "The Green Jacket", I want to find all the threads that have "The Green Jacket", not all the threads that have "The", and "Green", and "Jacket"...... Ya know what I mean?

I guess that’s it...

I really do like this place.... Keep it up!!!!
