Hi Scruffy,

Well, obviously the hybrid's head weight will be less than the iron's, so the shaft would have to be longer. Now at least two variables are changed from your three-iron, so keeping the same shaft isn't accomplishing much, right?

They maximize shafts specifically for hybrids. You could use the hybrid shaft that's in the same series as your three-iron shaft, but again, most likely it wouldn't accomplish anything special. You want a shaft that has synergy with you and the hybrid clubhead. Of course, as a person aspiring to regain a .5 index, you almost certainly use steel shafts which I've completely forgotten about. I don't even like how my putter shaft looks--cold and steely and all. One of them has a UST Frequency Filtered shaft, two others hickory, but my present gamer has an annoying all-steel shaft like most putters. I had a tiny external hammer Beretta .25ACP once. It was a single action autoloader (chamber first round manually with slide) just like a big 1911 .45, only in miniature! I could do more damage throwing stones, but it was cute, anyway. Their trap and skeet guns are beautiful, however. I'm not much of a shooter, but I love the look and workmanship of quality sporting firearms.

I have a steel shaft in my hybrid and couldnt be happier it makes it look and feel more like a iron I don't have a problem getting hight on the ball but it's a hybrid design shaft at 95 grams and I have only hit a couple of hybrid with a graphite shaft so I really don't have a thourough opinion on them my preference is steel in hybrids and graphite in woods.

So do I. There is a store in Greenwich, CT that I go to when I visit family that has the most beautiful collection of sporting arms. I spend hours there staring at these works of art that I will never be able to afford.

Thanks for all of tips. I am actually going to see the pro today and see what he says. I will report back this afternoon.

From my experience lighter hybrid heads is far from obvious. A typical 3i would run somewhere around 240 grams. Tom Wishon's 321Li 3i hybrid weighs 241 grams while his "player's 3i heads" weigh 239 grams (within 1 SW point on the same shaft). And adding hosel weights and/or tip weights is a pretty standard thing for SW management.

Sorry for the wrong assumption. I defer to your expertise, Dave. I just assumed that they'd be lighter like fairway wood heads are lighter than iron clubheads....usually.

I'm now hesitant to make general statements on these matters!

Was just buzzing around the internet and hit upon Louisville Golf, they have their Forged Feel irons on close out for $199.99. You can get 4-pw or 5-sw http://www.louisvillegolf.com/index.php/cPath/4_71 , they are cast but have a "forged feel", cavity to 8 iron, 9 down are blades. Never hit them but they look nice .... jmoc

Re: Are hybrids heads weighted like equivalent loft fairway woods or equivalent loft irons?

For sake of completeness there certainly are 21* hybrid heads (for example) that are weighted like a fairway wood vs. an iron - the difference being 12 grams roughly. But from what I have seen it is less than 50% (at least in the world of compoments). dave

Well I think I saved some money. I had a set of Wilson Deep Red Tour II's lying around that were given to me by a Wilson rep 5 years ago. I hit them yesterday and they might just fit the bill until I get my groove back :)

Best wishes on your return. As an aside, I would recommend buying a used basic thai chi DVD. This will help with your ROM, balance, mental control, rhythm, and dynamic arm/shoulder strength. If it hurts don't do it. I'm sure you have had lots of rehab, so do the home exercise program as ordered by your OT or PT.

Here's some examples. Please read the reviews, many might not be into the Qi energy and meditative aspects, so purchase accordingly http://www.amazon.com/Sunrise-Tai-Ch...1122737&sr;=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Step-Tai-Chi-T...1122737&sr;=8-5 http://www.amazon.com/Tai-Chi-Fundam...1122737&sr;=8-2 I find that the more I like the video instructor, the more I'll watch and use the DVD ie-if you would prefer to watch a female instructor, choose the DVD accordingly. As far as clubs, the Adams Idea Pro would be gentler on your shoulder than some blades with harsh feedback on miss hits. Also check out MacGregor MTs or MacTechs for their soft, buttery feel.
