I did a swing change last year, based mostly on my reading of Hogan's Five Lessons. One thing that surprised me was how much emphasis he put on the waggle, it seems he regarded it as essential. I haven't incorporated a waggle into my swing, at least not regularly. One of my resolutions for the New Year is to waggle more ( ), but I was curious what others do, and how important you consider the waggle?

I think the waggle is very important for 3 reasons: 1) it helps you stay loose 2) it allows you to make minor grip adjustments and 3) it gives you a "jumping off point" for starting your swing.

I waggle. It helps me to relax, stay loose and helps with my tempo.

I waggle before every shot with every club (even putter). What I do is once I have setup to ball I then look for my spot that I am wanting to hit ball, think about ball flight. I am adjust my setup as necessary for thise thing. While I'm looking and thinking I'm waggling. Once I am ready to hit, I look down, set club and hit. I try to not let the club sit still for more than a second or so before I swing. It helps me keep loose. Because i am doing as preparing for shot, I do not have a set number. I do it until I'm comfortable and ready to hit shot.

i have to waggle every time i address the ball... even on the range... its part of my whole routine... it helps me make sure im not on my heels and my knees are bent... basically it sets my posture up... i also think its hillarious observing diff ppls waggle... my brothers waggle is pretty entertaining to watch... like a penguin getting ready to move a chick

Lately I've been waggling more, and with more wrist break. It seems to help me with the release somehow. Without a waggle I just know that my wrists would tighten up and then all hell would break loose .....

That is a good thing to keep a set pre shot. second best advice ever givin to me. too bad I don't follow it most of the time =/

I think that will be the easy thing for me to work on this season as I do waggle for the first two holes or so but then I tend to not keep it going with the pre shot and then my game tends to start falling. I think that if I did to relax I might play a little better

I have heard pro's say, "every good golfer waggles before hitting the shot". So I started watching and it does seem that anybody who is at least a decent golfer waggles.

The reason I've heard most often for the waggle is to relax the fore arms. And "yes" I waggle before every shot.
