Even though I have not been tuning into The Golf Channel very frequently as of late, I did read the preview about this show in "USA Today" in this morning's edition:

"Uneven Lies" at 9 PM Eastern Time

It will be followed at 10 PM by a discussion hosted by Vince Cellini, who usually does a decent job. Before the PGA Tour terminated its "caucasian only" clause in 1961, African Americans competed in the United Golf Association. Ted Rhodes was their big star, with 150 victories. This organization laid the groundwork for Charlie Sifford and Lee Elder to break down barriers and win PGA Tour events. The documentary is based on the book with the same name, written by Pete McDaniel, and it came out in 2000. It may be an interesting show to watch.

I very much planned on watching this show tonight....however, the Duke vs. UNC game is on at the same time.

I'm confident that Golf Channel will replay Uneven Lies on Thursday, Friday and etc. I've seen a good portion of it already...in the short sections they've been airing already. Very well done show.

Both are compelling events.

I believe the documentary, "Arnold Palmer, Heart and Soul", was done by The Golf Channel, and that was well done, so I have high hopes for "Uneven Lies". To be safe, I will record it, after watching poor Syracuse take on #1 UConn, which starts at 7 PM on ESPN. The Big East is tough again this year (what else is new?).

I know that's rude of me to say this.....but I rarely look past the ACC during basketball season. I suppose it's a product of growing up in Eastern North Carolina.

My mistake: the TV documentary is "Uneven Fairways" and the book's title is "Uneven Lies"

Yup.

The coverage of it was screwed up royally down here. Golf Channel has been losing signal badly over the last several days....and off the air for 24 hours at one point this past weekend. My cable company said it was a GC problem...not theirs. I hate it for all the locals that were hoping to see this on the first broadcast.

I agree with you. It was a very interesting documentary and I especially liked two aspects of it: 1. Charlie Sifford's comments and other players' comments about him. I am so happy that St. Andrews University honored with an honorary degree. It was a great ceremony, and was the subject of a thread on this golf forum. 2. Jim Thorpe's recollections, especially about the 1981 United States Open at Merion (where he played very well). He was competing in our National Open with NO money in his pocket. This reminds me of Lee Trevino saying that real pressure is when you are playing for more money than you have in your pocket. Thorpe has a very unusual golf swing, but played very well in a number of US Opens.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
