Pretty solid play by McIlroy today, would've been awsome if he made the final. Villegas has missed all his putts, but got his game together and is only 1 down. Mickelson and Cink have played very variable, Fisher has played well.

Yesterday Clark beat Tiger Woods, today he got beat by a 19 year old talent. That's match play for you.

I think Paul Casey is flying under the radar a bit, getting very little coverage. 5u today with 5 to go and he never has been down during all his play this week. He looks very solid.

Nice to see McIlroy win indeed.

Now I don't like Ogilvy since he's probably knocking out McIlroy today.

Golf on TV is more exciting with Tiger Woods, no doubt about it. He can even play terribly and still be more fun to watch than the four in todays semifinals.

It was fun watching McIlroy, but now the interesting players are all gone. =/

I agree. Without Tiger I could care less about golf on TV. I instead went and hit range balls in 30 degree weather

Casey's been magnificent the whole week, really playing well and some great golf. I think the final should be a cracker and really looking forward to it.
Ogilvy seems to take it up a notch as well in matchplay, really enjoy watching him play.

Does anyone know why there is two rounds today in the final?

So far (hole 9 of the afternoon round on Sunday), Ogilvie is driving out of his mind, and putting very very smoothly. Casey isn't playing at all badly, but his approach shots just aren't doing the job for him. Has Ogilvie always putted this smoothly?

Good commentary, especially by Johnny Miller.

I have no idea about Ogilvie but Ogilvy has always been superb on and around the greens. You don't win a US Open if you can't putt!

Have you seen his record in the Accenture Match Play Championship? He's 17 and 2. I'm surprised he didn't get much of a mention as a potential winner, I had him pegged as big chance.

And if Phil doesn't melt down.

ogilvy played really well today. i was impressed. i'd never really watched him before now. i'd been pulling for furyk and his goofy swing right from the get-go... i was sad to see him knocked out the other day.

And if Phil doesn't melt down.

Good point, but if you remember Geoff did get the job done over the final few holes whereas Phil and Monty suffered badly from oxygen deprivation. The way Geoff played those last few holes of that US open were ugly but effective. That little pitch he hit from the front of the 18th took testicles the size of watermelons to pull off!

Plus Phil's meltdown, it was sort of a given really wasn't it?

Very valid points, especially the part about it taking testes the size of watermelons! :D

    • If your baby is crying why would you continue to play golf? Take the kid out and get them some play like a reasonable adult. If you don't like kids go to an adult only course. I bought a kid Caddie and it works awesome. The kids had a great time and the cup holders worked great for drinks. I even used the phone holder to record videos of me showing my little guy how to swing. Until you have kids you wouldn't understand.

    • Not exactly what I thought the article would be about but a little interesting. I immediately thought of @collegefbfan post.  I would like to believe that most instructors have a genuine passion to help their students get better, but I'm sure somewhere there's a guy that gives you just enough to make you have to come back. @iacas can answer this.  Other than being a PGA professional, is any governing body on certifications for an instructor?  I know of the USGTF but is that 100% legitimate?  Ryan: Lessons from the worst golf instructor in America In Tampa, there is a golf course that boasts carts that do not work, a water range, and a group of players none of which have any chance to break 80...
    • Is the guy a PGA professional or a USGTF professional, or just a guy that tinkers in a shop and has a pretty good golf game? Not knocking you in any way, just curios. Did he take a look at your clubs and take any measurements to see if your clubs length/ lie were OK for you? If you are hitting on a full size range then the launch monitor isn't 100% necessary, ball flight will tell you a lot along with some foot powder on the club face. If all he has is a net then yes a launch monitor is needed.  50 bucks an hour seems like a good deal. I pay 50 for a 1/2 hour. 30 mins is about all my mind will absorb and I leave with one solid thing to practice and a few drills to last to next time. Keep us posted on your journey.
    • I had a issue with the watch picking up the sensors on a consistent basis. I did what the instructions said, but since I have a GPS watch and an H4 I sent it back rather than to try to work out the issue.
