I use the marker attached to my Taylormade divot tool. The tool is magnetic, keeping the marker in place. One less thing to shuffle around in my pants.

The mardi gras dabloons are also a cool idea. Really colorful anyway. Are those made of plastic or metal?

They are annodized aluminum. The ones they throw from the floats are usually a single color (silver, gold, red, blue, purple, green, etc...) There are also some fancier ones that are usually created for the people that are in the parade which can be very fancy.

I noticed during a round with my Dad one day that he was marking his ball with a Susan B Anthony gold dollar coin. I made mention that I thought it was "neat" that he had thought of doing that. After the round...he gave me the gold dollar.

That was quite a story. Thanks for sharing.

They have the President Obama commerative coins. That would make you popular.

Oh, noooo... My family voted for Obama. But, we live in Texas. I've been ridiculed out of a restaurant for wearing an Obama shirt. Doing anything "Obama" is a deathwish around here. Been seeing some really cool ideas on here. I really like the Canadian coins, too.

Took my grandson to the Buick Open a few years ago. Ran into someone I knew that was in management of Buick. They gave each of us what looks like a pocket knife. It has a knife blade, a small brush, a divot tool, a tool for spikes and on the outside a magnet Buick ball marker. It came with a case that fits on your belt. I carry it in my bag and wear the tool on the course and use the marker.

I use a Kenyan 10-shilling coin that I picked up on our honeymoon:

But I usually forget to grab it, so I end up using whatever I come across first in my cluttered bag pocket.

    • Context:  I am on vacation, so I don't have access to my indoor practice room, and I won't for about a month. Day 12 (August 22).  Today's weather was not one where even I was going to be outside.  For whatever reason, I didn't do the putting drill today.  There was a drill I remembered from this site (the article was something akin to "five things you can do to improve that don't require talent") that involved having an iron along the back from stance, moving to backswing and holding, then moving to forward swing and holding.  So I did that for five minutes today. I also spent 90 minutes at the gym;  my main motivation for getting stronger is golf related (and I really should get back to Fit For Golf  specific workouts;  I'm not sure when I lost that habit, a poor choice on my part that I did).  Funny story, I spent 20 minutes on the Stairmaster today at the gym (the rest was weights and rests), a device I started with shortly after I took up golf because I read something about it in a Butch Harmon book.  I should be following FFG Mike's fitness advice though, not some memory of someone else.
    • Day 8 8-22 Worked on backswing length and getting some speed in backswing. Recorded swings. Was happy with practice session tonight.
    • Day 325 - 2025-08-22 Practiced for almost an hour after cleaning my cabinets to account for the new GEARS cameras and helping @OBlum for a bit. Exaggerating the same old things.
    • Yea, faster greens = shorter putting stroke. You can be more accurate.  Really, I think people who struggle with distance control struggle just as much on slow greens as fast greens. I've seen people blast putts 10-FT past the hole on 8 or 9 STIMP as much as 11-12 STIMP.  I prefer faster greens. Usually means the putting surface is better and again, shorter putting stroke.
