i dont understand what they do for you. ive always found that i get a perfectly fine grip with my bare hands. so other than grip, are there any advantages to having gloves?

With a glove that's in good shape!!!!

A worn glove is worse for me than not wearing one.

I tend to grip much lighter when wearing one.

I think gloves are an added expense that are not worth it. I have been using gloves lately because my hands got torn up playing clubs with corded grips. I have gotten new clubs with tour velvet. Ahhh! much better. If you're getting blisters from not wearing a glove then you're gripping too tight.

I get a better grip when I have a glove on. I don't use it on all shots (pitches/chips and 3W), but for irons, hybrids, and my driver I wear one. I feel more in control, so I say they are worth it for me. Plus, my hands get pretty sweaty when it's hot out.

plus, what would you do after a nice wedge approach shot and your approaching the green?

(walking up, taking off the glove and grabbing the putter after a nice approach shot is just something that makes me feel almost like a pro)

IMHO, I think if you have "moist" hands, then gloves are important to have, since with certain grips like corded grips, they can tear your hands up. The softer grips like Winn are softer. My hands are really dry, so combined with the soft Winn grips, I don't wear a glove.

If I play 36 in one day, then I will wear a glove from start to finish because that second 18 will hurt plenty.

I've often wondered about corded grips, such as Titleist. I just put an order in for AP2 irons and those will have the corded grips and I'll be switching those out before the first round with them. I can't stand the corded grips and i just like something a bit softer.

I always wear a glove on any shot that is not around the green. I just have sweaty hands and a glove helps me keep better control of the club.

Not to get off topic, but if you ordered new clubs why didn't you get the grips you wanted on them? Titleist offers a ton of grips to choose from, you can get just about anything. The high end grips may have an upcharge but there are plenty to choose from with no upcharge.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I wear a glove on all shots regardless of the situation. Mizuno Retro Flex L/M left hand only. I seem to feel more connected with the club with my glove on for some reason.

It really depends what kind of grips your clubs have. If you have corded grips, you dont really need a glove.
My clubs have Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips and I find that a glove helps me control the clubface better because my hand dont slip.

My hands tend to get really sweaty during the summer months so I need a glove. That and I just feel like I have a better grip and am in control more.

I have better control with a glove... can grip the club lighter, solves sweat problem if it's hot... and last but not least it gives me a cool one hand tan that way even when not wearing a glove, I look like I'm wearing a glove.

Even if sweaty hands isn't a problem often gloves can give you more confidence if you're used to wearing one all the time. I know I always feel a bit odd when I swing a club without a glove even if it's just in a shop. Golf is all about confidence and if you feel more confident with or without a glove then that'd be the way to go.

If you ordered them from Titleist, how come you just didn't order them with the grips you want... You can have any grip you want with Titleist custom, usually for no extra charge (depending on the grip). This way you don't have to pay for the grips and the labour.

I don't wear a glove, added expense I don't need. I play the Golf Pride New Decade grips and never have had a problem with blisters or losing grip on a club.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
