I think the competition is tougher now, back when Jack and Arnie played there were fewer good players, now on any given week there might be 20 guys or more who could win and I dont see anyone getting to 10-11 wins in one season as Tiger has done before. Tiger is the best but he doesn't always win, he has to play his best or someone else beats him. But Tiger at his best is very tough to beat. And if he's in the lead, its hard to take it away from him.

Tiger yes but same as jack i'm only 16 but the way my grandpa makes fun of tiger, he always says a good thing or two about jack, but i think tiger will always have it in him to exceed some more

Both players are at the very top of the game, so I say, naturally, both.

You will find no bigger Tiger fan than me, but Jack is the greatest until Tiger breaks the record. I do feel Tiger is arguably the best ever. Note that "best" and "greatest" aren't necessarily the same thing. You can make a pretty strong argument that Ben Hogan or Bobby Jones were the best ever. But when I think of greatest, that usually involves winning and longevity. Jack is the greatest. Tiger might get there at some point.

No doubt there are substantial differences in the technology used during the two time periods, but my vote goes to Tiger. I think that Tiger was the beginning of the shift of athlete golfers...

Kinda fink Tiger better its a hard one though!!

However used to watch jack videos on how to swing so maybe he's helped me if only it would help more haha

Tigers a better athlete, faces better competition etc etc lol

I think that if you place them both on a course at the peak of their careers and gave them the same equipment and circumstances Tiger would prevail.

i dont know jack to well but i heard he was definatley one of the best, i think tiger though has such mental confidence and clarity when he plays and i envy him for that.

Pfft.

The two most important records in Golf are Career Wins and Career Majors.

Jack Nicklaus currently holds those records.

Don't give me the nonsense about, "Tiger's on pace to outdo him...etc". Show some respect for the game and don't count your chickens before they're hatched. Winning golf tournaments at the Tour level is not something you just write off.

My $.02.

Tom Watson's performance at the British Open this year - a few weeks off age 60 with a new hip - should give pause for thought to the argument that the fields Jack beat were somehow of lower quality. It looks a bit less convincing, now.

(Jack's still the man for me!)

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
