there must be 20-30 threads like this (one every 2-3 months it would seem)... but anyway, I'm about 105 w/ normal swing.

well I am 15 years old and my swing speed I believe is around 95-105. My average driving distance is around 270-280.

I guess all the power comes from my body not necessarily my speed (5'11'' tall 165 lbs)

is the distance what you are looking for or just speeds?

I know my ball speed is and average of 135mph. My distance is an average of 270yrds (with a 9.5 degree driver). I just don't know my club head speed. I do know I need and use stiff shaft.

I voted "100-105".

I was in Dick's Sporting Goods a week ago with my son and we always try to finagle them into letting us hit some balls on their launch monitor. Since I've bought most of my gear from them over the past year most of the golf guys there know me by sight and know I've spent some cash there so they don't mind letting us have some fun. If I swing as hard as I can generating as much lag as possible I can easily top 115mph (I think maybe the fastest I've seen there is something like 121mph), but the thing is swinging like that I'll be lucky to hit one or two straight drives out of a hundred attempts. Not really something that translates too well on the course (even at the range). Using my controlled swing where the goal is to maintian proper tempo, timing, and good contact my swing speed was staying right at 100mph. Using that swing and assuming good contact a good drive will go 260yds on a level flat fairway. That means normal drives are in the 240-260yd range, and that's a distance I'm happy with staying in the fairway.

95 normal, slightly over 100 when I swing too hard.

Avg drive 235-250 when I hit it right. I once hit one 310 wind aided (GPS verified) with my old regular shaft driver - lost 5 yds or so with the new stiff shaft, but its a lot straighter.

And those of you who claim to hit the ball 300+, I don't know who you are because I am almost never outdriven by the people I play with (have one guy that can hit it about 280 but only about 1/3 of the time, the other 2/3 are in trouble). I'm sure there are a few out there but most people really exaggerate their driver distances. My dad who is a 6 or 7 hits it the same distance as me with the same swing speed but he is more consistent and has a much better iron and wedge game (we are about equal putters) hence his lower handicap.

i voted 115+ I WAS TIMED at golfsmith in a swing room and was actually holding back just to make contact (it was dark) those times were 114-117. I know on the range and course its going to be higher since I like to hammer the ball. distance is 250-310 if I land in fairway i get more roll.

When I was fitted for a driver 2 years ago my swing speed was anywhere from 119-125. I hit my 2 hybrid around 250 yds. Not sure who you are playing with but I play with many guys who hit it way past 250.

Im around 110. Ill hit my drives between 270-280 most of the time. I should be around 300 with that swing speed but i do something wrong mechanically that saps my power.

beginning of the day during warm up i'm at 98.
i like to be around 100 when i start the round..
105 comfortably giving me my drives of about 275 - 280 (with roll)
i've cranked up to 110 giving me my drives that give me just about 300 yards (with roll)
and i've hit a drive as far as 315 down the pipe on a straight away. (light tail wind)
something like 330 in hawaii...HEAVY wind coming from the coast...slightly downhill par 5. it was ridiculous!

but normal for me is 100 - 105

Have you tried a shaft with a stiffer tip? You might be able to still use a 8.5 head and get the ball down.

The thing I love on these threads is how everyone has to not only relay their normal driver SS, but also... "I can crank it up to..." OR "If needed I can get it up to..."

Yeah I have the Diamana White Board. I love my ball flight and carry distance. (who wouldn't) but living in Nevada the wind whips up out of nowhere. I can flight EVERY other club in my bag, and most of the time driver but there are always a few random BALLOON balls that just get eaten up. I just got this driver and this shaft was recommended for this point so we'll see what happens. My clubfitter said that I could stay with the 8.5 with the Tour Burner TP and the shaft as its a good combination for a boring trajectory. Thanks for the tip though if this doesn't work out I'll shop for a shaft.

I think your figures are off. The best clubhead speed you could get would be 90 MPH with pure contact if your ball speed is right, and there's no way you're hitting the ball 270 with 90 MPH clubhead speed. The realistic number there is about 230 yards, tops, and that's with a little more roll than typical.

And you should probably be hitting a regular flex shaft, not a stiff. Now obviously you may have made a typo. Maybe you meant 153 MPH or 165 or something... if so, that's fine. But I think for your own sake you should really re-consider if the number you gave above is right.

    • Day 35 (6 Jan 26) - Got opportunity to play today, opted to mix it up - pulled Driver, 3w and 4h, keeping 7w, 5-Pw, 50 and 55 wedges and putter.  Played a set of tees up as well - goal: focus on the irons, especially the scoring clubs.  Had one of the sessions in a while (3 over 39 front, 6 over 42 back (a couple late round poor shot choices)).  Had a blast working a 10 club setup…
    • Day 17 - 2026-01-06 Mix of mat and net work, same focus on trail side and hands. Mirror work again later in the day.
    • Hi all. I have sought permission from admin to post this here. First, here's a quick link to my products on TST, which a few of the mods have been road-testing...  Most of you would be aware of the import tariffs imposed on importers to the US circa September last year. Prior to their introduction, I was selling a decent number each week into the 'States. Since the tariffs came in - which added ~AU$60 to the total cost of getting them over there - sales have dropped to virtually nil. I think fear of the tariffs is the biggest part rather than the actual cost increase, despite me declaring everywhere on my site that we pay the tariffs and have successfully got every order into the US without any problems since. What is still unknown to most US consumers is that these tariffs will DOUBLE in February as Australia Post will no longer be allowed to offer "private" rates, they all change to "commercial". I do indeed think that this will make the products uncompetitive to ship there. So what's the backstory?  I'm a small Aussie business, not some corporate juggernaut. I invented these products - not a reseller for someone else. The import tariffs double in February, so add another ~15% to the total cost. If you want StanceMate alone I can do a super deal on a run-out model PREVIEW HERE (note you cannot purchase this yet. I think the shipped price will be about AU$110 inc Shipping (tariffs included). If you want to reduce the cost of the whole Stryper Plus Bundle I can swap the runout StanceMate to reduce the overall price by AU$60. These work EXACTLY as the newer version, just not as premium quality in the way the finish is achievbed in production) IMPORTANT: All import tariffs are PRE-PAID at my end, and clears customs no problem. I've sent a half dozen since October with every one delivered. NB: I'm not here to get into the politics of the decisions on tariffs, so let's not go down that road. It is what it is! So StanceMate to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - about US$70 Bundle to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$240 Bundle (with version 1 StanceMate) to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$200 Cheers Corbs
