Imagine this scenario:

Tiger has the 3rd round lead this week and then Greg Norman goes out and shoots a stellar 4th round and has the clubhouse lead by one with Tiger only having #18 to go. Tiger hits his approach to 15 feet and needs to putt to tie. Does he:

a) Being a great fan of the history of the game, he decides to throw Norman a bone and push the putt a bit, making it probably the greatest victory ever in sports

b) Be the killer that he is and sink the putt

I have know doubt Tiger would sink the putt and beat Norman in a playoff, but it would be damn interesting.

It's a totally silly premise. Such a thought would never enter Woods' mind, so nothing to discuss.

I think in this dream scenario it would actually be Tiger Woods vs. Earl Woods. Even then, Tiger wouldn't miss a putt on purpose. But I'd love to be at the 19th hole!

No question about it...Tiger would drain it dead center. The thing about an athlete at that level is that they will never "throw" anything. That is just part of being competitive.

No way would Tiger miss the putt on purpose and give Norman the win. Tiger has such a strong will to win that I dont see him doing something like that.

Imagine this scenario:

I think you're having a drug induced fantasy. Even Norman admits that he doesn't have the game to be competitive there anymore.

Your first option is just stupid anyway.

Even if this bizarre nonsense came true, Norman would still manage to sign an incorrect scorecard and get DQed.

Well.
The shark is tied at -2 with Mr Woods. The problem with Norman is he has 3 great rounds and a blow up round at every tournament. Odds are he'll probably shoot an 80 tomorrow

It would be awesome if it came down to that but sadly I don't think its going to. I remember the 96 masters and norman had 54 good holes and then he blew up. Now keep in mind that he and always will be one of my favorite golfers, but I just don't think he's going to make it. And even if did there is no way that Tiger would throw the tournament. Tiger is a champion and champions don't throw the tournament no matter how much respect they have for the other guy.

    • I like a course that plays tough for a major, but this is what matters. Back and forth, multiple players in contention and drama on Sunday.
    • Day 15:  Practiced my swing, no hitting, just focused on all the feels.
    • Which makes it tougher to win tournaments, and speaks to the strength and depth of fields. It's unknowable how to specifically rate a player (i.e. is Jack a 99.1 and Tiger is a 99.8?), but since the format for PGA Tour and major championships has remained basically the same, by comparing records and the players that took part, you can pretty directly compare across eras and derive that Tiger > Jack. Do you even know what side of this discussion I'm on? That's not my opinion or belief. Did you quote — and reply — to the right person? Doesn't seem like it. Okay, I think it's clear now you've replied to the wrong person. I have many times.
    • Fun to see a competitive Sunday leaderboard. Glad to see Viktor playing well again, especially after reading the story about him the other day where he didn’t seem to be in a great spot. Seems Joe gets him playing his best.
