Do you put a line on your ball?

Alright, I wasn't a believer for the longest time but I realized my putting was off because I was letting my eye take my stroke off line because I wanted to putt to the hole. Using the line gets me to putt to my read taking all the guess work and doubt out. Just trust the read that the ball has and if it's the wrong read, so be it, but at least I know it's not my stroke that messed up.

No line, just the side stamp on the ProV1x... Started doing that after watching the '83 U.S. Open, I think it was Calvin Peete lined up his golf ball that way... Anyway, I have used the side stamp ever since

I used to used the text line on the side (or the Titleist stamp before they really put much side text on the ball) but every time I was staring down at that line on the ball I'm thinking "Man, that just doesn't look right with where I think I need to hit it."

Now I just slap it down with the Titleist perpendicular to me, but I putt much more on feel than anything else.

Then again I see a ton of your guys doing it and I'm thinking of grabing one of those snap on tools to draw the line this year.

I generally don't mark use a line...just the line/graphics already on it.

There a ton of templates made for this.....cheap and easy to get a fast & perfect line.

I don't even bother lining up the line that comes on it.

I use the words on the ball. In my opinion I don't seem to see the difference if theres a line or not.

I used to do it for balls that didn't have the line but not any more. Though the gatorade ring seal thingy is a perfect fit - thats how I used to draw my lines.

I don't use any of the alignment graphics on the ball nor do I draw a line on the ball. Menatally I draw a line from the hole back through the ball to the line on my putter. I want the line on my putter to be part of the line from the hole. I ignore anything marked on the ball. That is the line I will send the ball on towards the hole. I do everything by feel. I tried to put a line on my ball, but it took too long to get it aligned correctly and once over the ball I didn't trust it.

I use something like this, but with a Green pen. I don't use the cross hair marks, just a line. It's helped me.

No I don't, I never get satisfied with where the line aim and get thrown off my focus. I prefer to find a spot somewhere in front of the ball and aim at that. The same way I aim at all of my shots. I think it helps understanding how to putt. I often see that I find the line, set up and it looks totally weird. If I take my normal stroke, the ball does not find the hole. Tells me I am doing something wrong and need to trust my aim more and improve the stroke.

To follow up on my first post, today I decided to putt without any line at all...
30 putts for 18 holes

I felt much more comfortable over the putts and made 6 one putts, 4 for up and down pars.

I don't draw a line, I just use the line that is stamped on the side of pro v1's to help me line up my putts.

I freehand it, it's not perfect, but it works. I'd like to have a perfect tool though. Maybe a plastic Easter egg?

This seems like a good idea. I think I will try it.
