Sorry to bore everyone with my personal info but I just wanted to stand on the highest mountain(couldn't think of a higher mountain than The Sand Trap's Forum) and proclaim that I fell in love today. I traded my year old x-20's (could never tell or "feel" where I was hitting them) in for a "used set of m-67's with rifle 6.5 shafts. I have hit twice now at the range, the last time just a few minutes ago and I can't believe it, it was surrounding my target with my wedge and grooving most of my 3-irons. Just had to tell someone and since I really don't have any golfing buddies you all get to hear me ha!

I was amazed when I made the switch to my Mizuno MX-23s. I had hit a LOT of irons before, and had planned on getting some callaway irons. In fact I never even considered mizuno. However, after playing the mizunos, I don't know how I could ever hit something else that didn't have the same feel. I've always loved the look of Titleist irons and really like the AP2s, but if I get new clubs in the next year or so, I can't imagine getting anything but the MP-52s.

"take a couple weeks off - then quit for good"

MP-67s are tough to hit. Great job on finding the love, may it continue to flourish.

My next irons will have to be Mizunos as well. I just have to get the MX-200.

Guy I'm playing with in a captain's choice tourney tomorrow just got a set of them.....sold his old set of X18 (tour model...pro series whichever it's called).

He's loving the Mizzy irons.....says the MX200 are the best he's ever had. Guy hits the ball a country mile, too. It's gonna be interesting to see him go after it with these.

LOL, pretty damn respectable for a 12 hc. I'm think'n that will be going down soon. LOL, ain't love grand.

Many times have have to laugh, (to myself), when I hear ppl say, "oh, those irons are just too hard to hit." Agreed they won't put up with the slop many players call a swing. They are like a high performance sports car or a really hot chick, they don't put up with crap. The other side to that is once you learn how to use them, (which would be a good solid swing & tempo), they are surgical and light years past what you had, well IMO. I have a old set of Wilson 78 Staff Tour blades 1-pw that have kicked my Mizzy's out of the bag. Its really amuzing to hear ppls comments when they see my bag, which many times is a 3 metal and irons 1-LW. Yes, they also don't put up with slop, but after you get used to working to a higher standard and tighter tolerances it will reflect greatly on your ball striking and hence your confidence. Confidence in your clubs is paramont in becoming a good player. Play well and love the game

Good choice!!! They are the best clubs i have ever hit!!

They aren't that difficult to hit either, i certainly do not have a problem using mine!! As far as i am concerned they are without doubt the sweetest irons i have ever hit!

Let us know how they work on the course!

Ok i'm back, I just got done playing 36 in the last 3 days. These irons dial into the flags like nothing I have ever seen. I have doubled my GIR. Hit a 4 iron uphill into the wind 191 yds. to 5 feet. I can now just trust my swing and go for the greens, I cannot believe the difference from the x20's. My uneducated opinion for anyone asking if they are good enough to switch from game improvement irons to a "players" iron is farking go for it. Just go to the range and go with your swing and you will be amazed at what you can do. I am juiced to go back out tomorrow and go for the flag. I never had this feeling with the "other" clubs. I am not just speaking for Mizunos now either, I believe most average athletically talented golfers could play "players" irons and be very happy.

One more thing, I was playing the wrong shafts on my x20's also. The sales person who sold me them said that the uniflex would fit most all swings. I now know that was hogwash. I am now playing flighted rifle 6.5's and hit the freaking ball straight and smooth. If I hit a bad shot it is my fault not the clubs. What I am getting at is get fitted and if you have a good smooth swing get a stiff shaft and go for it.

This is for titushem. You are will be verrry happy with those clubs. Let me know how you do!

I feel like we have a bond, ha. Both going from x20's to mizzy's.

I also have a callaway 3w 15 degree, which is a good club for me.

Ahhhh, the driving range love affair. I've had many such relationships. They usually end up in divorce and the only thing I have to show for it is a lot of money spent.

Ooops. My apologies. I only hope I am as fortunate with my latest purchases. I'm also jealous because I'm living up north and we're still a couple of weeks away from the courses being opened.

That's interesting...I joined this forum to talk information on new irons and was looking at the x-20s...I am very partial to Callaway, but I am open-minded. I have a set of VFT irons from 2002 and am starting to hook them a lot. I have to open the face and press my hands forward to cut a ball. I'm wondering if it's the offset. Any thoughts anyone?

yes the x20's are offset and very clunky in my opinion. If you like the callaway product look at the tours.

    • It's not dumb. It's dumb to randomly allow a free drop that provides an advantage you don't deserve. And your committee had the option of determining it GUR. Did you talk to them?
    • A sand trap is not supposed to have 3 inches of water in it. To me that’s temporary, casual water. Just like if your ball lands in a deep rain puddle in the middle of the fairway. I would have gladly hit out of any spot in that bunker. I understand that it’s a different rule. I just think it’s a dumb rule. You are penalized because it rained.  Here’s what I think is the dumbest rule in golf, and all sports for that matter - professionals playing for millions of dollars in a tournament have to carry around a little pencil and scorecard to keep their score and sign it, when there are big scoreboards all over the course and on tv. Can you imagine the Knicks losing because they didn’t count their score correctly? Like I said, I love the game, but it’s time to move into the 21st century already.
    • Sorry to lose you, thx for letting us know
    • I have to bow out for the weekend. I was only in for Saturday as it was
    • Could course committee have an MLR option to declare this bunker GUR?
