Playing around with my new camera and decided to take a shot of my driver swing.

After I played the video I noticed by just dragging the circle on the play bar slowly and catching different frames that you a,most straighten your right leg in your back swing and that you start your shoulders moving down before your legs almost a reverse pivot but very subtle maybe try moving your right shoulder a little more over your right foot and start with moving your hips open before you dip your left shoulder in the down swing it will help you get a little more insiide out, Just wondering d oyou hit the ball high and ocasinoally slice? and hoe do you hit your irons? low spin or high spin draw or fade?

Thanks. Haven't broken 100 yet :-/

Bullshizznit.....with that swing????

I'll bet you bomb a country mile. I like the wide arc and the separation from your body at the top....a lot of guys just fold up at the top. I imagine you are stoking that driver well. Cool camera....the slo mo is very telling on a golf swing....I'd hate to see mine!

That's a great looking swing. I'm no pro so there's not much I can say in the way of critique. Any changes you might need would be very subtle. The only thing that really jumped out at me was it looks like you might have a bit of an inside takeaway. Not sure though. Hard to tell with just that one angle. Just curious, are you taking lessons? I should think a good pro could make a few minor adjustments to that swing and have you on your way to playing some really great golf.

Swing looks pretty good i guess. You make a good turn away from the ball. But as Im sure others have already said, but you take the club take a little too far. Causing you to pop up and loose your address angles.

Ive learned that when you think youve made a half or short backswing, youve probably made a full turn.

I'll vouch on that one. I'm getting to the same place as you. Rotating so far that the upper body starts getting out of order. When I do a shorter turn, everything seems more controlled, but it takes time to get rid of it.

I kid you not. 108 is my best so far. I average around 270ish give or take 10 yards, but my iron play is so horrible I can't capitalize on my distance.

My driver flight is very high. If I had to guess, I'd say it maybe tops out at 120-130 feet or so. Looks about 10 stories up. Kills me in a head wind.

The irons are usually way fat or bladed, but when I do catch one good they have a pretty low flight with a 10 yard or so fade.

i'd like to see some videos of you actually hitting a ball and a down the line video.

Agreed, I know it's a lot easier for me to perform a much better swing when I'm just practicing- the mind can do funny things when you're actually hitting the ball.

Couple of things:

1) Hard to tell without a down the line, but anyone else think the plane is a bit flat?

2) Compare the frames at 2, 3, and 4 seconds and look at your head position. Your head has drifted back enough that you can see a whole extra board on the fence.

3) As someone else mentioned your upper half started down a bit early.

Maybe turn a bit more around the right leg instead of drifting back on to it. This is a big key for me...my ball striking is a LOT better when I concentrate on turning and not drifting back, and then driving the swing with my lower half. Just my 2c.

That's about what I thought as I had the same problem and ama actually still working on it I used to hit a draw or nasty snap hook and hit the ball pretty good regularly shot in the high 70's and then I could barley break 90 last season with the help of a local pro I found out without even realizing it I was moving my shoulders first on the down swing, draw a line on the video from your left shoulder to the ground and watch your left shoulder as you start your down swing notice how it gets ahead of your hips because you start your swing with your shoulders and follow with your hips and then your legs if you can start from the ground up you'll hit the ball better and have better control with your irons you won't hit so many fat and thin shot's get some lessons where they shoot some video and put you side to side with a tour pro and you'll really be able to see the difference. best of luck

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
