I went to Demo-Days at Haggin Oaks this weekend and stopped by the Golf Pride tent. The guy behind the desk said that i had some of the "biggest mitts" he's ever seen and i need a golf pride Jumbo tour velvet. Anyone else out there with bigger than average hands use these grips?

They felt pretty good, but I'm concerned about how they play when you switch from an averaged size grip. (they didnt have a club I could swing with one on there) I'm playing a standard tour velvet full cord right now. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't tried the jumbo grips, but the iron set I bought this season has bigger grips than the previous set and I definately feel better with them. I don't have huge hands, but they are long and larger than average.

Having the right grip is very important since it's the only place you have contact with the club. It's impossible to tell which grip that suits you, find a local dealer and try some.

Another big hander here... I use Lamkin Jumbo grips and love the extra beefy feel. Now regular grips feel like I am grabbing a pencil. Try them... you will not be disappointed.

Another golfer with big hooks here. I play oversize Lamkin Crosslines and love them. I feel like I have more control over the club and the shot, and believe that the proper grip size is extremely important.

anyone with M/L hands playing jumbo grips? I got a used set of MP-32's and they came with jumbo grips. I have noticed that my shot dispersion is MUCH tighter, I'm hitting a nice predictable cut shot and it's real hard to turn the ball over for a draw. In my case that's not a bad thing as my 'miss' is usually a hook due to an OTT move. The jumbo grips seem to be straightening that out a bit. I just wonder if covering up a swing flaw with grips will do me more harm than good in the long run.

Using some Jumbo Velvets right now, I LOVE them. My hands aren't huge but definitely way to small for regular sized grips.

Nice! So glad to find out i'm not the only one.

I played yesterday and everyone was telling me the grips were too big but my game is telling me otherwise. I like how easy it is to hold the club with less tension rather then always holding on too tight with std grips.

i take a 2xl glove, but i play a standard size grip. my irons have standard golf pride tour velvet cord and my woods/wedges have standard golf pride multi compound. i tried the over size grips and they just didnt feel right. although i do use an over size grip on my putter to take the hands out of my putting stroke.

I was introduced to over-sized grips 15 yrs. ago. I changed to the larger grips when my fingernails dug into my palm while I was playing. I liked the feeling of control and noticed my shot-making abilities increased. I have the larger grips on my driver and fairway metals. On my irons, I have the mid-sized grips with one extra wrap of tape. I would say to experiment with the sizes and wraps until it feels comfortable, produces the control that you are looking for, and doesn't create any additional problems. I'm working to find my draw and I think it is in the grip (and the swing).

Hello,
I also have big paws. New jumbo grips are something that I have been thinking would help my game. I know I need new and larger ones. The grips listed in this post are on my list. I hope when I get them they help me with some of the same probs.

Jumbo or "Super-oversized" golf grips are an amazing new development in golf. I'm not talking about slightly larger grips, I'm referring to grips which feel like the size of a baseball bat handle. My cousin, an inventor of golf products and scratch golfer introduced me to super-oversized grips over a year ago and I would never go back to a standard skinny grip.

The larger size feels so much better in my hands (I wear a M/L glove) and produces way better golf shots, both in distance and accuracy. I think it has to do with being able to relax my grip on the club and swing more freely, yet I retain better control of the club through impact. I would not listen to those who say they don't work. Try them for yourself and see if you hit better shots. If so, go for it!

I have a M/L hand and use JumboMax oversized grips in a Lg. I've never hit the ball so straighht and far. Got 'em on all my sticks. Would never go back to reg.

Funny because i was just thinking about regripping my clubs wiht smaller grips. That being said, I wear a small glove and while my hands are normal size, they're kinda girly and slender. I've heard that (not sure if this is true) the thicker grips are often better for your swing because it makes you 1. feel less obligated to grip tighter and 2. discourages you from getting to "handsy" with your swing. For me personally, I can't make a good swing with fatter grips.

I'm in the same boat as you. I wear a 2x glove but stick with my standard grips. I had oversized ones on some older clubs and liked those too, but I think they create a tendency to get the club too much in your hands. Grips as big as baseball bat grips are the wrong idea imo because a baseball bat is gripped differently than a golf club.

But grips like anything else, are about feel, so whatever feels best is best for you. I just happen to agree with you that I have large hands and prefer regular sized grips, having used both.

bought my first 5 wood last year (big bertha warbird) on ebay with a jumbo grip already on it. I wasn't really scared away by it. im 6'4" and have relatively bigger hands and these things felt really good in my hands. a year later i have a matching 3 wood that i changed the original grip to a GP jumbo. Shots still have solid feel but actually help fight off-center hits from twisting. Now looking around i got a new set of wilson fg irons with standard sized. Might need midsize grips. plus the warbirds are a little too light which is either i dont swing strong enough, or the grip makes the clubhead feel lighter. Also i tend to push the ball to the right which is a sign of too big of grips. but almost always purposely try to  swing/hit left of my target line and bring it back to the right and land almost exactly at my target line. Might need a slightly smaller grip but overall i love the feeling of control the golf pride jumbo gives me. Love these grips. (even though they aren't for me)
