I just realized that I am lacking a bunch of golf's necessities...hats, polos, shorts, etc. Just wondering if you guys could suggest some good/cheap stores (online is fine also) that offer a pretty decent selection of golf apparel. I'm a Titleist/Nike fanboy so I would love it if they had a nice collection of those. I especially like the Victory Red and Tiger Woods Nike caps and all the polos that Tiger wears are nice. Thanks in advance.

Two questions for you:

1. Where are you, geographically? 2. How important is brand name to you? These will help us make suggestions.

I'm from Des Moines, IA. Not really sure what name brand golf shirts/shorts are but I prefer Nike and Titleist hats, etc. since they would match my clubs.

i have a golf galaxy 5 minutes from my house, im literally in that store about 4-5 times a week hahah..if i get bored, ill take a drive over and hit some new stuff.

im good friends with all the guys that work in the store, and the pga teaching professional at the store is my swing coach, so needless to say i get some awesome deals and i get free roam of the swing room and whatever clubs i wanna hit.

i always suggest golf galaxy to everyone. they take care of their customers, have the best prices, and always have good staff

I try to buy my stuff from my home course pro shop when I can. It builds good will and they often will knock something off the tag price for a regular player that they know.

Golf-specific clothing is over generally priced. Try Target or Wal-Mart if you want colorful inexpensive shorts or polo shirts, etc.. I refuse to pay $75 for a golf shirt because it has a Nike logo on it.

You can sometimes find good golf clothing on sale or clearance at websites for stores like Sports Chalet. I got a $100 set of rain gear on line for $35 there.

SubPar

Most of my shirt except the logo shirts come from Kohl's. It's funny a few years ago I hated going there and now I spend more time there than most of the women I know. I may not play like a pro but I'm doing my best to look like one. I also recently picked up a pair of pin stiped golf shorts with a score card pocket on the side there, and every one that saw them on the course wanted to know where they came from.

From a local Big and Tall shop. Most of what they sell is Greg Norman brand. I've bought a lot of golf clothing there. Pants, shorts, golf shirts, golf pullovers, windbreakers, and shoes. All very fairly price. about 60$ for a pair of Greg Norman pants, and they are both comfortable and strong.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

its best to know someone at a store to get you a discount. I got my UnderArmour golf shirts at discount. Also JCPenney has some great deals on PGA Tour shirts and also golf shorts. And my Cleveland shirts, well those i got for work.

I generally get everything from Macy's, but there's always the shirt or two that comes somewhere else. As for my shoes, hat, and socks (if they count as apparel): shoes come from Golfsmith, socks come from Dick's, and my hat... I wear the same hat every time I go golfing: It is a fitted Zephyr Colgate University hat. My dad went there for college, so we go there every year. Seven Oaks is a wonderful course, too.

Not sure about the Titleist stuff. Best bet is to do a google search, see what comes up, and find the best price. I have traveled across I-80 and there is an outlet mall in Williamsburg between Des Moines and Iowa City. They had a Nike Store and if I remember right I bought a few golf shirts there when I stopped (although it has been a few years). Some of the Nike outlets are hit and miss. I have two Nike stores near me, one has a Nike Golf section, the other only has a rack of it, if I am lucky.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Check out the stores, They have crazy sales every year. I just picked up two Ashworth golf sirts, and greg norman, all on sale at GOlf Galaxy for $9.69 each. Then I wnet to sports authority and found an Adidas golf shirt for $9.95. AS for short, I go to Old Navy. I play with cargo shorts. In the South Florida weather, you can't waer pants, unless your also planning on shedding 15 pounds of fluids during the round. I know people have issues with Cargo shorts, so I try to keep them low profile, no big pockets. Actually at Old Nave, they currently have golf style cargo shorts sor about $25.

Every thing else i get as needed, not especifically golf minded.

The only thing that I do pay attention to are hats, and normally I end up paying full price at golf shops...I like to try them on before I buy.

I do the same thing, I purchased four golf shirts a pair of shorts and a regular polo the other day for $75 total (I had a 10% coupon since mywife and I carry there credit card we get a coupon every month)

I was at sports authority the other day and noticed some nice nike golf shirts on the clearance rack, original price sticker said $40. I took them to the register because everything else on the rack was 40~50% off. The shirts 3 cents off. $39.97 was the price. I laughed at the guy and said some sale, and drove down the street to Kohls.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

If they don't have it at Academy Sports you don't need it. This rule applies to all golf equipment except clubs and shoes.

Wholesale clubs like BJ's, Sam's Club, & Costco. Name brand stuff at about half price...everyday. Ask yourself this: "Do you really care if you have to try on shorts in public?" Hint: wear underwear.
