I think I've settled on the Top Flite Gamer-best combination I've found of feel around the greens, distance, and reasonable cost.

I experimented with several balls so far this season. I ended up settling on the 09 prov1. They're finally durable enough to justify their price, imo. (sans cart path or tree) I played 36 holes with one ball over the weekend with just moderate wear from wedge strikes. The ball still seemed like it had good life, too. Ive worn out previous models in less than 9 holes. Im very happy with this new model right now.

Usually whatever is cheapest because I still lose a decent number. I am contemplating something better now though as I just went my first round without losing a single ball.

I definitely noticed a distance loss on the last balls I bought (dunlop, 18 balls for $14) and they give no feel on short shots. Couple times I've found a pro v1 on a course and used it I was shocked at the control/spin even a beginner like me could get. Now to find a good middle ground of cheap + good performance.

I tried out the Nike One Platinum yesterday and really liked it. I like a lot of control [read: spin] around the greens and these give me that. As of now, these are the new ball for me.

Pro V1x - very happy with the 2009's durability. Can usually get 9 holes out of them, and then they're still good for the chipping/putting green.

I tried out the TM TP red yesterday and was very happy with it. Nice feel and control around the green, maybe a little shorter than the V1 and B330 RX I usually play though.

I have been playing Precept Laddy X, great ball and real cheap. I recently tried Srixon Soft Feel also a great ball reasonably priced.

I was never a person to buy premium golf balls but the other day I tried a Pro-V1(for the first time) and I was amazed. I would have never thought there was so much difference in the feel and spin factor between a surlyn and urethane ball. I have always played the Top Flite D2 Feel ball but I am definitly going to look into something that is higher spin.

I hit a 1/2 SW the other day that checked up unbelieveable fast with a Pro-V1, would've seen 15 more feet of rollout with my Top Flite D2 Feel. A higher spin ball will definitely benefit my game.

    • Day 11: Worked on putting with the metronome
    • I added to total today by hopping it in on the first hole for an eagle. A short par 4, I hit 4 wood to 110. With a little breeze in my face I hit a 50 degree gap wedge to 2 feet and watched it hop into the hole for an eagle 2!
    • Sounds good. Text me if you have any questions. You have a good setup, too, and so long as you can get good camera angles… you should be good. https://skillest.com/@iacas
    • Day 14 (September 18).  Morning practice, despite questionable weather (it's raining).   Worked on chipping at first, including run-ups with UW and PW;  I've noticed lately some of my near-GIRs are missing forward, with nothing but grass ahead of me, but 20-30 yards to the pin.  After a few misadventures putting those lately, I wanted to at least get a feeling for what a 30-yard chip shot that doesn't have the variance of my quarter lob wedge would feel like.  I still think "putt when you can putt" is right, but... I am less sure I have a 30 yard putt in me.  Range time also, of course, same routine as the past week or so (drill, 3-4 slow shots, etc).   Did not get to the putting green as it was starting to come down a bit more. Darn, it really is raining.  And I thought today would be a perfect day to play, seeing as how it's 9-18 and all.
    • I'm in the same boat.  I think the last team event I got really excited for was the 2019 Presidents' Cup.  When I first got into golf, the Ryder Cup was an event (one among many) I used to plan my schedule around to make sure I'm able to watch it.   I'm not sure I realized how close it was until I saw this thread pop up.
