I just played in a Charity scramble to benefit a junior golf program. The team ahead of us couldn't hit the ball out of their shadow, never saw them hole out a putt but somehow shot 56 gross. Another team was the same way. How do these people sleep at night??? And if you are one of these people what is your DEAL???

Gotta love dishonest people. I have the worst time trying to understand why people would lie, especially about something like your situation.

We will never understand. I guess some people just can't stand to lose.

It happens in all of them man. I have witnessed the exact same thing. I don't understand it either.

see my rant about the 51 in my last event....a 51 shot on a dogtrack. Our group did do something slightly off mark. WE wrote a name down on a closest to pin but put down 50 feet(the tape goes to 25feet!) the MC awarded the prize to our guy! idiots...We told them it was a mistake and that the ones above us won the prize. But gee is 50 feet closer than 8 feet 3inches?

I don't play in scrambles for this very reason. Well, that and they take five+ hours.

Was your name after that 8ft 3in? I hear that all of the time. Most of the time they get screwed up with the inches and feet symbols...

I agree that this is the reason I hate scrambles. They are all a guessing game anyway unless you can shoot well enough to win the top flight. Scrambles in my area are usually full of sandbaggers and it makes it a numbers game instead of just shooting what you can shoot.

Cheaters don't have any integrity and it is disrespectful to the game and themselves.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

Most of the people who go to those things just do so to drink beers, smoke cigars and win prizes. They don't really understand or repect the game, imo.

This one took 6.5 hours. 15 5 person teams on a 9 hole golf course that the greens and fairways are no totally healed from offseason and aerification. We shot 61 and we played great but it's tough to make a putt on greens like that. Plus in my group were myself and another scratch player.

Report the c**ksuckers. Cheating in any sort of format is inexcusable.

Perspective… It was a charity scramble to benefit a junior golf program. The kids are the real winners.

My point being. My team has won the last 2 years and we donate the 1st prize back to the program. Then usually the 2nd 3rd and so on follow suit. This did not happen this year and it really pissed me off. Those low lifes took the prizes and took off. NO thank you to the program, tournament organizers nothing.

If you earn a prize straight-up, my feeling is you can do whatever you want with it - call me cold-hearted or whatever. However, if you attain a prize in a golf tournament by cheating, you deserve to be DQ'd, no matter what the prize is.

It is not just in golf you find these persons. It is anytime you are dealing with people. Animals have more integerity.

People who organize these events need to understand that you can't have prizes for winning. Or if you do, keep them very small. Have a hole prize on every hole and a big raffle. Or play 2 random groups together to watch each other.

My brother and I were talking about this earlier........like the "long drive holes" you see the sign 380 yards up the fairway and think there is no way....at the awards you see the guy that "claimed" he hit it....... i get a kick out of it really..those tourny's are for fun and most benifit a cause in the community, its a shame some people have to cheat.
