Depends on the course. I golf a lot in Wichita, KS, they have very flat courses and easy to walk, but in here in Kansas City a lot of the courses are very hilly and difficult to walk. Also the newer ones aren't walking friendly, several hundred yard from green to tee box.

I walk whenever I get the chance. Thankfully, most LA courses are very walkable - some to the point what I wonder why anyone who isn't disabled would consider a riding cart. However, sometimes I play in the Irvine area, which doesn't seem to allow walking at any courses I've been to.

I'll walk over riding any day with my Bag Boy Express 3 wheeler. I play much better when I walk also, none of that rushed feeling.

Where in Irvine can you walk? I'm looking for such a course that I can play with my Irvine friends and still walk.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Hey y'all,

In the past I would always walk on solo practice rounds and generally ride during social rounds.

I've been riding every round this year due to knee injury / recovery. Soon it will depend on temperature. It's getting hotter than Hades some days around here. I was at the range last Friday and couldn't believe the heat and humidity.....unreal for May. Today, however is super cool and nice....wish I could have played.

I normally walk but I noticed my last few holes of the round I start to hit the ball less consistent, possibly fatigue. Definitely more relaxing walking. When in a cart feels like I'm rushing through the round...

Tustin Ranch, Oak Creek, Rancho San Joaquin. All the green fees come with the cart included, but you can opt to walk. The only thing is they don't allow you to walk with a 2-wheel pull cart, only 3-wheel push cart. Weird I know.

    • I can't say that I remember a lot of individual putts, but I do have one specific memory.  The first time I played the Old Course, I had hit a pretty good drive on the 6th hole.  I had about 60 yards left, and due to the swale in front of the green, there was no chance of flying a wedge on or near the green and having it stop on the green.  My caddie recommended either a running 7-iron chip or a putt, and I took the putter and a pretty hard swing.  The ball rolled over humps and through hollows, disappeared into the swale in front of the green, and re-appeared heading right at the hole.  I ended up maybe 12 feet away.  The caddie turned and held out his hand to shake mine, and said "Now THAT was a golf shot!"
    • For the first time since 2021, I made a 3 on the 12th at Stoneleigh.    395 yards, something like 80 feet uphill, I hit a solid drive and a 7-wood to inside a foot.  Even I couldn't miss that one.  I feel like I haven't played a lot of golf this year, but I'm making decent progress.
