Scotty Cameron hands down.

Bettinardi has made some great looking putters. The .45 and .38 special are two insanely sweet looking putters.

Unfortunately, noone can match up against the SC machine.

His huge putter selection, customization options, headcovers, pivot/clip tools, clothing, accessories, etc. are simply unmatched by any other manufacturer.

I tried the Bertinardi putter and I like the solid feel and would buy one over the Scotty Cameron anyday, especially if I can save anywhere from $50 - $150.

I currently play a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 stainless putter.

I think you interpreted my question incorrectly. I was wondering when you walked into GolfSmith....what got you even try the spaceship shaped putter.

I didn't try the putter in the store. I tested it on course, on loan from a friend who is a clubfitter. The test was positive (13 putts with 5 one putts in 9 holes. And that was before I used it enough to get a feel for it. I had him build me one exactly like his. I've used it now for nearly 2 years, and never had a cold streak with it.

As to your question, I'm never afraid to try anything. Usually it only takes a couple of strokes to know if the club has a chance to be good for me or not. Just as a point of fact, this putter is completely machined, the body is machined on a CNC mill from a block of aluminum and the weights are stainless steel rods turned on a lathe. Mine has a straight rifle shaft in it, but if you buy one already built at Golfsmith it will have a double curved shaft. You can buy the components for one like mine for under $70.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Tried both (along with a few others) when upgrading my putter. The final decision was the Scotty Newport 2 and the Bettinardi Co2.
Simular in style and feel I was undecided untill I saw that the scotty was almost twice the price. (The headcover looks the nuts as well ! )
Bettinardi for me

Whats the difference between a Bettinardi and a Mizuno Bettinardi?

There is no difference - the Bettinardi is the Mizuno Bettinardi.

That's not entirely true. Bob Bettinardi is perhaps currently most famous for his line with Mizuno, but he does have a studio that designs & manufactures putters solely under the name "Bettinardi," and before he hooked up with Mizuno, he had also produced putters for other companies, including Ben Hogan.

That's not entirely true. Bob Bettinardi is perhaps

I previously asked the customer service rep from Bettinardi the same question and received a response. They indicated that both the Mizuno and Bettinardi putters are indeed "Bettinardi" putters. Both are manufactured from the same facilities owned and overseen by Bob.

The 'difference' is that the putters solely under the "Bettinardi" name are more exotic, customized, and unique putters. The analogy would be the "Mizuno Bettinardi" is exactly like the what Titleist is doing with the "Scotty Cameron Studio Select' line. The "Bettinardi" putter would be the "Cameron Limited Release" lines. A "Mizuno Bettinardi" is a "Bettinardi" as much as a "Studio Select" is a "Cameron". [However the difference is that the Mizuno Bettinardi's are manufactured in the facilities....when Cameron outsources the manufacturing to a 3rd party and not in his putter studio]

Bettinardi. Camerons are overpriced and overrated. I bought my Bettinardi used on Ebay for $80, which is far less than what any Cameron would go for.
The main thing for me was that I wanted a Mizuno putter to go with the rest of the Mizunos in my bag.
Ive tried Camerons in the past and wasnt impressed with them. Apparently I just dont buy into the Cameron mystique.

I wish Scotty Cameron would add a Napa to his next line of Classics that is 33" and 350g. The Bettinardi BC7 is all you can ask for in an 8802 styled putter, plus you can buy one new for $180 on eBay. Try finding a Napa under $350, hard to do...

I am on my third Scotty, and I think it is the best one yet. It is a 35x3 Red X and I have never felt a better feeling than I do with this putter. That being said, I have stroked a few with a Bettinardi but never really felt that strongly about them. I am a huge Mizuno fan so I am sure it is quality, but I guess I just stuck with what felt best for me.

I just bought a used Scotty Futura 2 on Ebay. Have always wanted one, but didn't want to spend the $$. The first putt was an uphill right to left around 20ft. I drained it!! ( I did get a great read from my opponent). After that, nothing that great. Just need to get used to it.

I used to golf with a guy in college who was very well off. He had golfed all the nice courses, including Augusta, twice, and he golfed with the limited edition Tiger Woods Cameron. I used to love kicking his ass with my old Ping Anser. lol

Got my Scotty new for $150 at Golfsmith - loving it. I am glad I picked one up that day and checked the price on it. Normally I would just ignore them knowing they were too far out of my price range.

    • Its simple, YOU are responsible for reporting YOUR score correctly, at every level of golf.  Do you imagine a top pro would really trust anyone else with his score? Without getting too far from the original post, the Rules have been revised every 4 years for decades.  They're continually evaluated, and most changes are in response to changes within the game.  BTW, if wind blows your ball off the green before you've lifted and replaced it, you play from wherever it ends up.  The TV call ins weren't a rule of golf issue, they were a PGA Tour issue, all in an effort to get the call right.
    • Someone asked what I propose. I think if the bunker is full of rainwater, you get to drop it with no penalty directly in back of the bunker, so you still have a tricky shot of chipping over the bunker. People are talking about local committees and such which we just don’t have at our level. My league and playing partners gave the free drop with no issue. My original purpose of this post was just to understand what the “real” rule is, and I now know. But now I also want to encourage people to see that many long time golf rules are outdated and illogical, and hopefully encourage people to push for change. They made some changes in the last few years, so I’m hopeful the game I love will improve if enough people speak out. A lot to hope for posting in a little forum I know, but you have to start somewhere.
    • You get a penalty stroke because your local committee didn't do their job, they didn't address the specific conditions using the tools available to them within the Rules.  The rulemakers contemplated just this situation, bunkers being so filled with Temporary Water that they're unplayable.  The only way to address it "fairly" is to allow free relief outside the bunker, and they do NOT want to allow that on an everyday basis.  So they write the rules as it is, and allow the Committee to override the normal rule in the rare instance where the bunker really is full.  That's what your "local league" does, they invoke Model Local Rule F-16, which treats flooded bunkers as both GUR and as General Area.  Relief from GUR in the General Area allows relief in the General Area (i.e. outside the re-defined bunker).  Its quite a logical way to approach a relatively rare situation. Separately, consider your concern about temporary Water in the fairway.  I've seen situations in relatively level fairways where the Nearest Point of Complete Relief  from Temporary Water is 30 or 40 yards away, further from the green, even in the rough.
    • There you go, @yungbuck6. Your hips aren’t really shifted forward and your head tips back. The camera angle isn’t good so what looks like hip slide could actually just be extension towards the ball.
    • But there's more to weight shift than just where you finish. How your weight transfers throughout the swing matters too.  But you're saying you can see it better than a device that can measure it? Got it.  Yeah I'm good here, good luck to whoever tries to coach you.
