Here's my take on it. I am just getting back into golf after 9 years. I bought a light stand bag for now. I like the stand bag for the driving range because it makes it easier to access all the clubs. I also like that I can walk or ride with it. Down the road, I plan to buy a cart bag for the extra storage but will still use the stand bag for trips to the driving range or for when I play a Par 3 course and don't need that much stuff. If I walk an 18 hole course I'd use a pull cart anyway, so either would work. I'd likely use the cart bag once I have it since I like the extra storage. If you can only have one, I'd go with a stand bag, but I think the best setup is to have one of each.
