Now what you don't want is to have it stop in it's divot on the green. That's happened to me about 3 times in the last week. Backspin is imparted on the ball due to a downward blow, striking cleanly, and

I think I would remove the bold portion of your steps above.

^I understand what you are saying but a good percentage of the clubhead does travel under the ball. Hit down sure, but if you hit the equater of the ball with the leading edge of the club as opposed to the bottom of the ball, the ball isn't going to be struck very well. :)

My point was moreso that some people play golf for score.... and other play just to hit good shots and enjoy it. I can't count the number of people I've seen so happy with that once in a blue moon shot that makes their day (or week or year!).

I agree, some of my best shots really stick out in my mind, still excites me to think about, like driving green on a par 4 or sinking a 7footer with my eyes closed in a tourney because I felt it, my best score not nearly as memorable

I agee 100%, but to say "get under the ball" to someone that is not familiar with hitting the shot gives the wrong impression. That could lead to keeping your weight on the back and using your arms to try and get the ball in the air. I wasn't saying it was wrong...I was just suggesting that maybe it was the wrong choice of words for someone trying to learn to hit the shot.

I would just leave it with a downward blow and striking cleanly.

okay, i did this once the other day and now Im hooked. I do not know how I did it either, just chipped on with my 60* and it spun back about 6 feet. Was totally awesome!

very easily... you bring your wedge back slowly, then swing forward very quickly, but not with a full swing cause obviously you'll jack the ball. but basically, swing as far back slowly as you want to go forward, then accelerate down and through the ball at twice the speed or more you had going in your back swing.

    • I have been on a roll in November. Today was a 77 (69.2/115, 6,050 yards) on a wet course with dew covered bumpy greens. Better greens and I might have shaved a few more strokes off the score.
