Not only can you not golf while it's raining (you know what I mean), but sometimes, you can't golf for a few weeks after it's done either :

Good God, that really sucks! Looks like some of the damage we had on the courses down here after Katrina. How long do repairs like that take??

The public course in DC had to close one of the holes because they couldn't drain the water from the fairway. On the whole, the course is actually below sea level.

Man, weird weather this year. It seems you guys out east are getting hammered by rain, while here on the West Coast (I'm on Vancouver Island) we have had next to no rain in the last three months and we have already had some major forest fires.

Damn, and I thought it fit to complain that the one time I've been able to golf in the past month (We've had heavy rain about 19 out of the past 20 days) it was a swampland... at least our course had no major damage...

That sucks. My home course is in like a bowl, so it floods whenever we get bad rain, so I kinda feel for ya.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

We had something like eight inches of rain in about twelve hours. That creek in the one picture is usually nothing more than a little trickle. People will step in it to retrieve a ball that's found one of the "deep pockets" (a foot of water) in the middle.

That's crazy!! We have had some heavy rains and had a few sink holes but nothing like that! It looks like a river now

I am in Dutchess County NY and the rain is terrible. Even after a couple dry days, fairways are soaked through, and its a lot less fun to play.

I am so ready for some dry heat again. And forget about carts everywhere for at least another week.

Please send some this way. It has been rather dry other than a few spotty showers lately. Never fails, I plant grass seed in the back yard to fill in dead spots left from the dog...

That really sucks though. I hope they get it fixed soon.

I've started praying for only light rain, because I can play through it and it empties out the courses around here. But yeah... this has been a silly rainy year in the NE so far.

Ouch. What's the deal with all this rain on the East Coast this year? I played a round down in Maryland on Father's Day and the pro told me they have gotten over 2 feet of rain since May.

We had a similar thing happen in the spring of 2008. We got so much rain over a two week period the rivers couldn't handle it. The course I play at borders one of the major rivers in the area and it flooded about half of the course. There were some good photo from the air. All you could see were the higher mounds, some of the tee boxes and some of the greens. All in all, I think we had about half the holes under water of some sort. Lost two of the bridges that go over the drainage creeks also. After the high water point, the course was up and running in a few weeks and you would have never known, except for the bridges that were gone.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

We had a low pressure system sit on top of us for months in 2006, and dumped so much rain on us. It got really old to drive out to the course only to hear,
"Sorry, another 4 inches last night. Not a single hole is playable."

And it doesn't help that every course in Texas is built on a flood plain.

I feel for you man, hope it stops soon.

Front nine's still open. And I can still get to Lake View. That course sheds water amazingly well. The back nine's probably "soggy" but eminently playable. You know, except that you can't drive on the cart path in at least one place...

I hear you a few weeks ago we had 8 inches of rain in just over 12 hours as well, same thing happened at one of the local course, water washed the bridge away so you can't play those 9... luckily its a 27 hole course so 18 is still playable...
