Hey, I am currently looking to invest in a new putter. I am looking to spend upto $175. Putting is the part of my game i need the most work on and I feel that I need to get a solid putter to start getting a solid stroke on the ball. I was wondering if some of you experienced players could throw some advice and suggestions my way on brand, model, and types of putters I should consider. Also, I am 6'1" would a 33",34", or 35" best suit me?

I'm 5'11" and anything shorter than a 35" seemed too short. I would think you would want at least that length. Putters are hard to suggest since it is really just a personal feel you get with one. I tried a LOT of them out and the one that felt the best for me was the Karsten series Ping Zing. Unfortunately, I didn't have the cash for that one and the Maxfli felt nearly as good for a LOT less money. I plan to go back and get the Zing this fall when money is better but the Maxfli I have in the bag will do for now.

The only thing I can really suggest is go to a shop that has a large selection and a practice green and try as many as you can. If you are on a set budget, don't bother trying ones more expensive because you might just fall in love with one you can't afford and then just be tortured about it.

There is only one good advice that comes to putters.

Pick the one you feel best with.

You probably shouldn't ask people on the internet which woman to marry, same goes for a putter.

With a putter, it's a cheap, whorish marriage, but a marriage none the less.

You see, I went to a golf store near me which had a large selection, but the big issue is I am a lefty. So the selection is limited that much more. I mean I tried the few that they had but, I know that there are so many more out there. Being a lefty makes it very difficult to demo clubs and get a feeling before purchasing.

Man....such a personal preference issue....gotta try a few.

I'd suspect at your height....34" would be a great place to start.

The PING iWi putters are really sweet feeling to me. You can go with the Anser model if you like blades or the Craz-E model if you like mallets....get the weight kit and you are set up for extreme adjustablity.

Go get fitted (free) and see what lie angle, length, grip size and putter works best for you. They can have it custom ordered and in you hands in a short time...usually less than two weeks.

Go try for yourself.....there are tons or great wands out there in that price range.

Studio Select Newport 2 Mid SlantGrips: PING cords & Golf Pride New Decade Multi-Coumpound Bag: C-130...

It's such a personal thing that no one on here can give you an exact model, you'll just have to go putter testing. But keep in mind, if you like a "straight back - straight thru" stroke, get a mallet. If you putt with an arc, get a blade.

What are you looking for in a putter? Do you want a heavier putter? Do you want a putter that starts rolling the ball, quicker? Do you want something with an alignment aid? Blade? Two ball? Mallet? Tons of things to think about.

FWIW, I have two Rife putters that I love to death. Both were purchased for less than what you are looking to spend and both are available in lefty: the Bimini and the Black Aussie Mallet. Both have the roll technology, are 350 grams and the Mallet has a small alignment aid. The Bimini does not.

Give them both a try as well as the Cleveland Classic series. Those can be had, new, for less than $90.

a good solution is to putt righty, and just pay attention to feel, how it looks it should be pretty close to how the putter would be.once you find one you like buy one online.

if you're open for suggestions, my favorite so far has been the SeeMore FGP putter. however, i dont know if they are available in lefty or not. but, like everyone has said, putters are SOOOO very personal. what i like, you might hate. I also 2nd the Cleveland Classic series. GREAT putters for around $90 brand new (less on Ebay)

When my son wanted to pick a putter, I had him hit 10 putts with every putter that I owned and he narrowed his pick to two putters and finally decided on one.

You could do the same at the golf store and pick what works for your putting stroke visually, feel and feedback for you.

I like Scotty Cameron Newport 2

I'm 6' 1" too, and I personally prefer 34". I'm going to get fitted for a Ping putter soon, though, so I'm curious to see if the fitter agrees with my assessment.

Hmmm I would presume I should get fitted as well. Which ping are looking to purchase? I found a store around me the has the karsten anser and I really like it alot. The blade model that is. But before I purchase I still need to compare to others and get fitted. Let me know how it goes buddy!

Hey there.

After trying all the Karstens I could find and several from the Craz-E and i-Series, decided to get the Karsten Anser 2, just yesterday, from GolfGalaxy. I went back and was hitting a few putts on their green waiting for the fitter to come and take a look at me. As I hit balls I tried to think of what I'd like to have changed. Usually with a putter I would like the lie angle adjusted, or like the head a bit lighter, or something, but I honestly couldn't think of what I'd change with the Anser 2. I looked at the 5 things they fit you for with putters (length, lie, loft, swingweight, MPF) and realized that I knew that I liked the length, lie, and swingweight. So when the fitter came over I told him what I was thinking and asked him if, in his opinion, he thought there was something that should be different that I should get fitted for. He watched closely as I hit a few 8ish footers and told me that, in his opinion, he didn't have any recommendations to change. He agreed the length was right, he thought the lie was correct for my style, and the loft was correct since I was flush on contact. So, I just walked out of the store with the stock model. I figured if it it isn't broken, no sense paying to fix it. Are you looking at the Karsten Anser or Anser 2? I tried both while I was there and I could tell a difference. The Anser was a nice putter, but when I put it back on the shelf and tried the Anser 2 I felt an immediate improvement. The Anser was a great putter, but IMO the Anser 2 felt someone took the Anser and polished it up a bit. I definitely prefered the 2. I'm not putter savant, but it felt like it had better balance and feedback. But the C67 almost hooked me. It was a great short distance putter, IMO on par with Anser 2, but I didn't feel quite as comfortable using it for longer 12ft+ putts. Not as easy to keep a square swing, which I prefer. I also tried the Anser 4 at another shop, but didn't care for it as much as the Anser 2. Hope some of that helps. Good luck with your hunt.

I went to the golf store and try the Never Compromise Voodoo Daddy putter and like the feel and alignment. I looked on ebay and they are selling them for $33 + $9 shipping = $42 brand new and with a headcover that is selling separately for $10-$15 so net cost of the putter is about $32

I tried out the Scotty Cameron new mallet putter and they were asking $250+ I will settle for the $32 Never Compromise, thank you.

I own the following below: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 shot my three best scores with this putter Yonex ADX Forged blade putter has the softest feel but not very forgiving, I had a string of 4 straight birdies with them putter I would consider the Berttinardi black carbon putter on top of my list too buy. On a side note the Never Compromise Daddy putter is being sold for $42 including shipping. brand new with head cover. great deal, I am considering buying it myself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, i cant say enough good things about my SeeMore FGP (MSRP $185 NEW). Although the design is not for everyone. some like it, some hate it. Ive sunk more 20-30 footers during the past 7 months Ive had it than i had in a couple of years prior to getting it. i like trying out new clubs but Im almost certain this one will stay in my bag for YEARS to come
