I've run into a frustrating problem recently.

I purchased a new pair of Puma shoes this spring, and after changing spikes last week (after about 45 rounds or so walking in them) one spike recepticle will not hold a spike.

Or rather, it will, but not for long. I can put it in, and it will "lock" but not nearly as tightly as it should-I can lock and unlock it with my fingers.

Now, I love the shoes, but I just need to keep that spike in there. Obviously, superglue will work, but I'd like the shoes to outlast the next change of spikes.

I tried loc-tite, but that didn't work very well.

Any suggestions?

Boy, past loc-tite, the only other thing I could think of with anything that has a thread to it would be plumber's tape, but I would think loc-tite would have worked better than that. Sorry to say, but might be time to just replace the shoes if it's bothering you that much (and I don't blame you)

teflon tape! Genius!

I'll try that today.

T-tape is only designed to seal leaks not lock the thread. Sounds like a faulty socket. I don't know what type of locking mechanism Puma uses, but I never have any problem with Footjoy.

they are Q-lok.

I never had any problem with them until i bought some black widow spikes. The spike in that spot ripped out about 3 times (which never happened with stinger spikes). Now the stinger spikes won't stay in.

I seriously doubt that there is much that can be done. Nike uses the Q-loks and I hate them. I've had to try and change them a few times for customers at the golf course and they are a royal pain in the ass. Give me Footjoy's system any time.

That'd be an option if I had any desire at all to wear foot joys. They seem comfortable enough, but I just hate their style.

I tried the teflon tape, it looked like it would work, and it made it almost 18 holes. The next option is liquid electrical tape. If that doesn't hold, its super glue and replace the shoes after this year.

You might drop a note to Puma customer service. Odds are that they won't do anything, but every once in awhile a company's customer service comes up with a pleasant surprise. A new pair of shoes would be worth the email.....
