I played yesterday at the local country club, of which I am not a member but have the "hook up." It was on par 3, obviously and 143 to the pin. I flushed a 9 iron, best swing all day, and the ball landed 4 inches short of the pin, took one bounce then dunked into the hole.

The tees were elevated about 10 feet so I had a perfect view of it going in the hole. Needless to say I was pretty stoked! The rest of my round however, was not my best.

Too bad I'm not a member or the drinks would have been free!

Congrads.

If you send some e-mails to some companies, they usually send you stuff back. If you played a Titleist ball, a Callaway 9i, and were wearing adidas clothing, e-mail them and they usually send you some good stuff...this is what I've heard. I haven't been fortunate enough to get a hole in one yet.

Great job. Next up: double eagle.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try emailing some companies!

And the double eagle is the only one left I have not pulled off. Made my first eagle about a month ago.

I just emailed them and they only send you a bag tag. So it's not like they send you a box of pro v1's.

so what was the reaction of your playing partner?
ive witnessed 2 aces in my life... neither of them mine...
one was my brother... my other brother and i seemed way more excited than the one that actually aced it... until he got to the hole and pulled his ball out...
the other was in the group behind us... we were waiting on a teebox while they were on the par3 behind us... it was a lil old lady... hit driver off the tee bouncing all the way up to the green hitting the flag and into the cup... since we were closer... we saw it go in before they realized it... gave her a standing o... then when they reached the green they started hooting and hollering

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
