Sounds to me like a swing issue, not a ball issue. Take a look at your swing. V1x's are a great ball, and I've never lost distance by switching balls. Unless I'm in my back yard hitting foamy balls.

I can honestly say they SEEM to be a lot shorter than the HX Hot Plus Callys I have been using. I tried a Pro V for a round and a V1X for another round and switchd back to the HX because I lost distance. I know distance isn't everything but I don't backspin the ball (other than a couple by accident) and the Callaway is $20 a doz cheaper so I won't be going back to the Titleist anytime soon. I had to go 1 iron longer with the Pro V1's and I lost distance off the tee for sure.

The HX Hot's are longer than the Prov1x's at least by my experience as well.

But, not by 15 yards. Maybe 5-7 yards with my driver, and about 5 yards with the irons...but nothing to play like 2-3 clubs shorter though.

i think it may be a swing issue that im going to have to work out. i may try the TP black/reds, from what i remember the reds spin more, correct?

as for the callaway hot plus, those things FLY...but then they dont stop either. which is why i like the pro v 1x. i just need to figure out whats going on with my swing...

The other day I was hitting all of my approach shots significantly short. I'm convinced it was because all the fairways were so wet that I was just taking much more of a divot than usual... thus absorbing some of my swing energy.

Prov1 is different from a Prov1X. Pro V1's, at least for me, spin more. The X's don't spin as much.

I got the pro v and pro v1x thing down...Yes I do think you can lose 15 yards roughly one club from a ball. Think about every time you've hit an iron and said how did that come up short. Probably because your mishits and any other little variable shows more when you're hitting a pro v1x than it would with other types of balls. Comparing yourself to him is apples and oranges. You have no idea what kind of iron player he is compared to you. Also give me almost any 2 piece ball pinnacle, top flite, and some callaways I wil hit them roughly one club further than a pro v1x. My point is BRO that just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it can't happen to anyone else.

the pro v1x is the lesser spinning of the two.they do go higher due to less spin.try the regular pro v1 it will not go so high with as much spin.

the x goes lower because of less spin. more backspin will loft the ball higher.

That's wrong if you're talking about launch angle. Pro V1x launches higher and has less spin. Pro V1 launches lower and has more spin.

For peak height, it depends on too many things to say even generally which ball gets the highest peak flight.

more backspin results in ballooning effect...i am not talking about anything else..comparing two balls. not swing arc's... launch angle has nothing to do with the ball either...

Were these pro v1x's previously used balls you ordered from somewhere? perhaps they had been sitting in a lake for a long time and had been damaged by water?

Waterlogged balls are quite obvious that they are such.

Launch has everything to do with the ball. The Pro V1x dimple pattern causes it to launch higher initially

Bump...

ProV1x is an awesome ball...I think it's funny that no one has asked the OP what type of clubs he uses, type of swing, playing conditions, etc...With a slow swing speed and a super GI set of irons could someone theoretically lose 15 yards with a different ball - any ball, let alone a Prov1x?  What if someone swings super fast and spins the s*** out of the ProV1x into the wind and it goes nowhere?

Not much information on OP's equipment, playing experience, conditions, swing, etc...need more information to diagnose.  I'm a huge fan of ProV1x

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
