Wedges ( Short game Frustration )

I've been working on my short game all year and made some great success. The ball lands on my intended target spot more often than not which has given me a great confidence around the green.

The one problem I still have is ball spin. The course I play regularly has the best greens in the area ( last stimp rating was 11 ) and they are fairly fast. As my ball hits it's intended target spot I am finding it difficult to impart any spin at all, so it rolls and rolls.

I am currently playing the wedges out of my '02 Big Bertha set. Would different wedges ( non cavity backs ) help me impart the spin better or am I missing something in my swing? Is the ball going to make a difference? ( I play mostly Callaways and Nikes of various kinds ) I probably lose 10 strokes a round because my ball has no spin and I can't get it to stick around.

In my bag:

Nike SQ DYMO 10.5
Big Bertha 3 Wood
Big Bertha 3-10 IADAMS Tom Watson Classic 54,58 and 64 Wedges Nike Oz 5 Putter/Wilson Staff ( not sure model, bought it in second hand store ) Ball: Bridgestone E6

Generally speaking, deeper grooves=more spin.

Generally-but I think 90% or more of the spin on wedge shots comes from your swing. If you don't swing with a sharp descending blow the ball is not going to spin even if you're hitting a ProV1 with a spin milled Vokey. Plus, your green is really fast-and your target will have to be adjusted accordingly.

I can't intentionally spin the ball repeatably either and I play to a lower handicap. The angle of attack on the ball to produce a spin is not in my bag of tricks. Forget the clubs unless your wedges are very worn out. Its mostly in your swing and don't be too frustrated that its going to take longer to develop it. There are other skills that need to be honed first.

Generally speaking, deeper grooves=more spin.

This is the first claim I've heard on the depth of the groove being a factor (unless they are abnormally shallow); the groove profile is a bigger factor (sharp edges and such). Hence the coming change to tour player's wedge groove profile at the end of the year.

Max has a great point that a descending blow and "compression" is key to spinning the golf ball. Go to your club pro and ask about a descending blow, or tinker with it on the range. If this does not work, then new equipment may be necessary.

I wouldnt be as frustrated if there was some spin, but there is none at all.

I just bought these clubs used this year from a friend and I'm not sure how much he's used them. They are still in great shape.

I agree with the swing part, and I've worked in a large part this year on ensuring I am hitting down on the ball. Thanks for the replies, I was just curious how much the forgiveness of these clubs would actually be hurting me when it comes to short game control.

I can never get spin with my Cleveland CG10 58* wedge. I used new ProV1s, but no luck at all. But I can get the ball to stop dead once it hits the green, and I can do that even with my crappy FOXBAT 56*. The greens at our club are far from good though, they're **** actually.
My achievements:
Eagles: 0
Birdies: 18
Best Round: 89

Well is the rough really thick. I played a course yesterday and i was told it ran at a 12 and when i chipped from the fringe it checked but the rough was so thick it rolled out 20-30 ft(this rough was THICK though i mean i had shots that i couldnt see my ball lol).
