Is there a standard tee that you play from...like the tips or you always play from the whites?

Do you look at each course you play, check the rating and slope and then decide?

Is it a macho thing to say you always play from the tips? If you play from the whites and shoot even par does that make you less of a golfer?

Just curious to see what everyone does...

I check the course I am playing and that determines what tees I play. Also, sometimes who you are playing with is a factor.

I Usually play as a single and get paired with others. I will play from whatever tees they are playing from.

If I am alone, or have a choice, I will play from the whites (the forward most "men's tees").

I've decided I will do this until I shoot par from the whites, and then I'll move back.

I usually shoot from the blues unless the rest of the group wants to go from something else. I am a short enough hitter that I do not enjoy playing from the tips yet.

I started the game totally backwards playing from the blues as a beginner to feed my ego. My game dictated that I move to the whites until I improve. I started to consider the course a bit more and change it up based on slope and rating.

I play the tees that my handicap indicates that I should play. This usually, not always though, puts me at the back tees. If playing casually with other players, I'll often play the set that the other players want to play from. I'm not picky.

Depends on the course, or who I'm playing with.

If the course is 7,000 yards, I'll probably play from the 6,500, or 6,600 yard tee.

If the tips on a particular course are anywhere 6,300-6,800 yards I'll play the tips. Never anything over 6,800 though. I just don't hit the ball far enough.

I play from the tips unless I'm paired with someone that wants to play from the white. Sometimes I'll change it up a little to work on my course management, and give myself a different perspective on the course (I play my home course almost exclusively).

I usually play from the whites. The other day, I decided to play from the blues. The fairways look totally different from that perspective. What was interesting, is that I scored no different from the blues. I guess the driver is not my problem area. Also, it was really fun changing it up.

Tomorrow is my first time on the course. From what I read here, I am assuming I better play from the whites?
Are Blue tees womens tees?

Typically

Tips are black, for low single digit & scratch or better golfers - the course is longest from here. The Blue are ususally the next longest White are next then womens (red) and seniors (yellow)

depends who im playing with. the blues are the tips where i play so i play that if im by myself or with my friends because thats where we have to play from for highschool tournaments but when i play with my dad and his friends i just play from the whites with them. doesnt really matter to me though

i play from the blues because i play on the high school boys golf team so i have to. but i'm a girl and it's really of frustrating when you have to play 200+ yard par 3's

My local course only has two sets of tees(I play from the back tees).

When I go to the course that's about 30 miles away I play from the Blues which are one set closer than the tips.
