well I did it! I finally did it! Iv been so close lately its been killing me. My last 3 rounds were 91, 93, 91... then on Saturday I shot an 88.

In my mind, I always thought the day I shoot in the 80s it would be a good round of golf. That was really all I ever wanted, just to shoot 80s every time out. That WAS my goal.

Wow, how things change after one round of golf..... for the first time ever, I actually see myself shooting 70s one day now. This "best ever round of golf" wasnt so good afterall. I look back now and wonder how did I ever shoot a 120?

I only hit 2 fairways and 2 GIR, putted 34 times!!! I shot a 47 on the front!! But I was pretty solid on the back. I parred 4 of the last 5 holes on the back and shot a 41.

Needless to say, Im very excited. Im glad it finally came. I have literally dropped about 15-20 strokes in a year. Now I just need to do that again over the next year.... (obviously the next 15 are harder)

great job!

I played 36 holes one Saturday a couple of weeks back, with strangers, and put up my best scores YTD (92,89). I shot a 104 the very next day . I've since recovered with an 88 and some low 90s since then .

Awesome, great job. I remember my first sub 90 round. Like you said, you look back at all the bad shots and think about what could have been. I hit the ball horribly and was constantly in trouble but putted very well. I hit this 15 footer with about 3 feet of break on the 18th hole to make par and shoot 89.
From then on the goal was always to break 90, and I was disappointed if I didn't (depending on the course). Then you slowly start to edge lower and lower, knocking off a stroke, 88, another 87. Etc etc. It's really fun to hit a milestone.

I suggest setting the next milestone at 85. Because 70's are a long ways off and more difficult than you think!

CONGRATS!! That is an awesome feeling. My first sub-90 round was an 81....I kid you not! It was a VERY, VERY long time til I shot sub 90 again and even longer till I shot in the low 80s.

I finished that round with a pitch-in birdie, par, par, par.

I am still trying to play consistently in the 80s....its hard, for me anyway!

Congrats again, and keep practicing!

Congrats! Always a big mental hurdle, but it sure feels good. I remember the first time I broke 90. The hard part now is to consistently stay in the 80's, rather than shooting to break 80. A few more GIRs and 9's of 41, and you'll be well on your way.

Haha, shooting in the 90's doesn't piss me off but it's a damn struggle!

I'm sure once when you start shooting in the 80's, you will want to shoot in the 70's.
