Won't that mess up the weight of the club? And doesn't black electrical tape on a club look more stupid than a ball mark?

Heck no, your putting too much into this weight thing (swing weight is just a number that don't mean sh*t). If you can tell 1g difference (if that) from a piece of tape....and no actually it don't look bad. I'll peel that piece of tape off and have a clean head while you'll still have your idiot mark for life.

My son borrowed my new driver a couple weeks ago and left two big sky marks on the top. I rubbed a little automotive rubbing compound on the marks and in two seconds the club was as good as new.

I'm going to give this a shot, I have some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax that I can try as well. If I really have to, I'm going to break out the buffer...that mark is really bothering me

Black electrical tape does look okay.....especially to guys gaming the Sumo and Dymo sticks that already have the matte black finish on them.

I wish other manufactures would go with the matte finish, too. No shine....no glare.....easy to touch up.

Yeah, I love my burner except for the finish. My dad's XLS has that awesome finish on it and it seems to be impossible to chip. He hasn't gotten one chip yet lol I've already got a skymark. My touch up job is probably the absolute closest match I could possibly get without sending it in for a refinishing. It looks really clean.

I think it looks silly. And since when was glare a big problem in golf?

Also, how does having electrical tape on the top of your club not scream "I make so many idiot marks that I have to cover the top in tape"?

Silly? Whatever dude, when you try, buy, sell and trade alot of equipment and you let people try before buying it makes a few sales and saves crowns on alot of clubs. I'd rather have my tape on my crown when I let somebody like you hit my clubs so as to not have to take a loss because of YOUR idiot mark.

Wait you've removed skymarks with that stuff? Or just light scratches? I went to the range last night and my friend put a small dent in the crown of his driver. He has all Walter Hagen Clubs. Does anyone know of a way to cover up a dent? I was thinking maybe bondo like they use on cars but idk how good it would stay on.

I have removed skymarks. Works well.

Luckily I was using ghost tape on it.

Peel and replace....no worries.

      Question About UK vs. U.S. Course Etiquette

      The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO

      Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.

      Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
