Simple device, but made an instant and incredible improvement in my swing. Has anyone else tried it? I recommend it.

I've never seen it before. I will have to give it some consideration since it should help my biggest weak spot.....Driving accuracy.

Hey can this help stop your backswing from going past parallel? My backswing is a little Daly-esque, maybe more like Mickelson early in his career. My instructor says the rest of my swing is great but it hurts my consistency.

Could this help at all or not really?

No, but for $30, maybe it's worth trying. I could use some distance.

I wonder if that's the position my instructor has been trying to get me into...

I've seen it on amazon, thought about ordering it, but there wasn't much for product reviews. But now that I have some real feedback, I probably will order it soon. Thanks for the post iacas, I'll have to give it a whirl.

Yeah.

It feels like it's misnamed because it really helps me shorten my swing, but the gist of it is that it'll keep your left arm extended more. When your right arm angle becomes acute, your left arm softens. I worked with the Swing Extender for a few minutes the other day (and bought one for the occasional check-up) in coordination with a move that helped to eliminate a bit of a cupped left wrist at the top. My ball contact, accuracy/consistency, and distance improved, and my timing has been reduced (I mean there's less wiggle room in my timing - I'm much closer to perfect timing now than before). Net positive results in accuracy AND distance AND general ballstriking. For $36 or whatever it cost me after shipping it's probably expensive. Yes, you could probably build one yourself out of a foam block or something. But I believe in paying the guy who thinks of it and puts his energy and passion into making them, and really, $30 is a drop in the bucket if it even helps you consistently take a quarter of a shot off your game, let alone two or three (or more - depends on how high you shoot now!).

$30 seems like a bargain to me - and I'm cheap . I will almost certainly pick one of these up. One of those things I wish I had thought of myself.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Iacas, if you are recommending a training aid then it's got to have something going for it. I'll go ahead and try it out myself since I'm really working hard on my swing mechanics right now, so this is a good time to use it.

I feel like one of my swing issues is allowing my left arm to bend too much at the top of the backswing, though it's not a major issue. Getting a full shoulder turn seems to help reduce the problem, but I'm not always sure. From the product video the concept makes sense.

I just bought a SwingExtender on ebay for $24.99 + $8.95 shipping. The vendor (bayoyprogolf) has only one left as of right now, so get it while you can.

2011 Goals:
* Improve club-head speed to 90 mph with the driver
* Ensure increased speed does not compromise accuracy
* Prevent overextending on the back-swing (left-arm is bending too much at the top)
* Relax arms initially at address ( too tense)* Play more full rounds (failed from 2010)

Thanks. I'm going to forward the URL of this thread to Joe (ERC7.5) and he can share his comments. I let him borrow it today and I think he will have good things to say too.

And no, I have no relationship whatsoever with the guy. It might be nice if he finds out why he's suddenly got 20 new orders, but beyond that, I don't know him, and I'm still waiting for mine to arrive (it just shipped - I'm borrowing my instructor's currently). Incidentally, one guy - a former head pro at a local course and now a pro in Florida - said that he once left his on for an entire month. He joked that it was also great for weight loss because he had a hard time getting the fork to his mouth he had it on so much.

This is something that I am always getting harped on when I play with better golfers. "Joe, you're going too long with your back swing.", "Joe, you're backswing....blah, blah, blah...". My reply was always "Oh....it's not that bad....nowhere near as bad as it used to be." or "I've reduced it considerably since last year.", etc...

Well....as it turns out....Erik had me put this device on while at the range and WOW! I could not believe how much it reduced my backswing. And while wearing it, my ball striking was much better. I will likely be getting one of these myself as I am often told that this area is the root of many of my ball striking problems.

One of the brightest training aids I've seen. It's simple and it makes so much sense.

I went on the website (via the link provided) put in the basket & went to pay by PayPal but there was no shipping added, even though it would be sent to an address in UK. Is this right? Is it really free shipping to UK? I don't want to buy it then find I have to pay $50 shipping.

I'm going to give this a try. I've been feeling like I really need some 'thing' to rein in my swing just a little. I've been hitting lots of good shots lately but then mixing in very poor ones, and some kind of 'set' at the top has long been my suspected needed area of improvement and 'solidification.' fingers crossed....

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

I think I know the answer, but can any golfer benefit from this? Or is this an "advanced" training aid?

In the blue Colts bag:

Driver - FT-5 10°
Hybrids - 4DX 15.5°, 20°
Irons/Wedges - CI-7 4-GW, SW | "Free" Warrior 60° LWPutter - TiffanyBalls - various

In my opinion any golfer can benefit from it. I really wouldn't call it an "advanced" training aid. As I'd stated, it's quite simple and makes perfect sense.

Got mine in the mail yesterday. I've got a round scheduled for tomorrow, plan to spend a bunch of time at the range prior with the SE.

Anyone else used one of these more and care to update? I definately have an over rotate problem on the backswing and could see this helping.

How much is "more." My first post is only five days old. I shot a 73 today and drove three par fours and reached all four par fives... does that count as an update?

No not really. If I could do that after using one for 5 days then maybe

A bunch of people said they were going to buy one, so I was wondering if anyone new had used one yet. Poorly worded I suppose.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
