So I have used the swing extender for a couple of nights now. I have to say that I don't know if it is worth the $30 IMO. Maybe I have shortened my swing enough with the use of TourTempo, but I just don't seem to notice the extender there during my swing. It also seems to shift around quite a bit on your arm. So, you will find yourself adjusting it after a few swings or so.

Then it's probably not quite tight enough.

If your swing is already stopping before you lose a 90° angle in your right arm, sell it to someone you know for $30 and be done.

Thought I'd have to give this a go....been overlong in the backswing for a while now and pretty sure it's this sort of flexion of my right elbow which hopefully this aid will help. Got to be worth a shout.

For info, ordered mine 6 days ago and it arrived yesterday. That's direct from the inventor to the U.K. Not bad at all. Let you know how I get on.....

What was the carriage charge to UK?

I've emailed to ask them but not had a reply yet.

What was the carriage charge to UK?

$13 P&P; to the U.K. I ordered it direct from his web site via the PayPal link.

Tried it today down the range. Definitely has potential although at the moment I'd call it a Swing Shortener - I always knew I wasn't that supple! Took 15-20 balls to get used to it but very good in the end; didn't lose anything noticeable for distance but definitely seemed to gain some accuracy/consistency. Good ball striking as well. Need to practice with it quite a bit more and get some muscle memory laid down. Impressively simple idea....wish I'd thought of it.

It felt short because you reached the end of your swing as far as flexibility is concerned. It is called a swing extender because your arc was bigger I would think. If it keeps your right arm from breaking down, then that keeps your left arm extended to its full potential...hands further from the head. I had actually started working on this myself a week before I saw Iacas' post on it (working on shortening my swing...not the device). I noticed one weekend that my left arm was really breaking down on my backswing which was causing me to have a little "cast" motion with the club as my arm was straightening back out.

ok I'm definitely a happy buyer now. I may have had more to correct than some, which is why this thing is so beneficial to me.

either way, played two more rounds after work and was blown away by the accuracy and consistency of my iron play.

13/18 greens is about average over those past two rounds. hit the flagstick from about 160 out with my 9 iron, something I've never done. if I'm hitting 6 iron or less, I'm almost guaranteed a GIR.

still struggling with the driver and 3 wood though. shortening my swing hasn't seemed to solve any problems with those clubs.

I've gotta say, I hit the range about 4-5 times a week though, so the results came fast. certainly isn't the magic bullet, but I appreciate the thread iacas, feel like I just opened up a whole bunch of new doors in a matter of 2 weeks.

Had an idea, documented here for my patent ;)...

I had the Izzo Smooth Swing a while ago, a different approach toward a similar goal, keeping a quiet, unified takeaway/backswing.

I thought, there should be a way to combine these two, but because both loop around the upper arm in the same spot, there really wasn't a way to. Talking to my mom, who has serious sewing skills, revealed a simple answer. I removed the strap from the Swing Extender, cut off about 6" of the soft velcro side, and sewed that to the cuff of the SS. I then took a few strips of adhesive "hard-side" velcro and, adding epoxy for strength, adhered them to the bottom of the SE. Now, I slide the SS onto my arms, and then just velcro the SE to the proper spot on my bicep area. Voila! A dual training aid!

My golf league has ended, so I'm entering full 'swing tuning' mode for the fall, where I don't necessarily care if my scores falter. Stay tuned for results.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

Really?!? Never would have guessed! Sorry; couldn't resist

. Been using it on quite a few practice sessions now and I think it's beginning to help somewhat. Definitely a decent swing training aid. Consistency with strike/accuracy appears to be genuinely helped somewhat. Had a weird experience the other day with it. Hit ~80 balls with a 6-iron wearing the Extender and then took it off and hit another ~50 or so. Whoa! The first 10-20 after removing it were odd feeling to say the least. Anyone else have the same sensation? Anyway, definitely worth putting in a lot of off-season practice with it.

This is the single BEST training aid i've ever used...PERIOD. I really believe that anybody who plays golf should try this training aid out.

I have always struggled with my left arm bending, and while I've still managed to get down to a low-ish handicap, that has more to do with good hand eye coordination than perfect technique. I used this training aid last weekend while in Barbados for a week, as I had been struggling a bit with my game. I used it for 15 minutes, and then went out a shot an ever par round on the Royal Westmoreland course. The score was the least of it. My ball striking INSTANTLY improved considerably. Its hard to imagine that this little thing could help me so quickly with something I've struggled with for so long. I got home a couple of days ago and ordered 2 of them. I figure my friends are going to want to try it out so I bought an extra one.

I just ordered one of these after reading everyone's comments. A quick question for anyone who is still reading this thread: can you wear a training aid like this during a round, or is there a rule against that?

You can't. But if you're just out for a practice round, it doesn't matter much.

But the golf course is for playing and the practice range for practice, so I don't know if I'd mix that.

i think it be good to do on course so your used to doing it in a real life scenerio

I agree, based on my teaching and coaching experience, the more "real" you can make practice, the better results you

should have. It may also be an advantage to keep it on through the end of the round, when some may tire and typically slip into some bad habits.

I received my swing extender yesterday and took it to the course today. I used it while practicing my swing in my living room last night and again this morning during my warm up. I think that it has helped me be more aware of where I should stop the backswing- and of the fact that I need to work on flexibility in my trunk. I didn't use it on the course because it is a little more distracting when swinging the club than I thought it would be- not to mention the rule against doing that (thanks iacas)

You only need about 45° of flexibility. Your hips should turn back, too. What you just said leads me to believe you're restricting your hip turn.

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.
    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
