Hello everyone, thank you for taking time out and stopping by to help me out!

I need some new sticks. I would like new irons and some new hybrids. I currently play the old Nike Forged irons. I hit them pretty well. I generally hit my clubs like pw 140ish, 9 158, 8 165, 7 175, 6 185, 5 192, 4 200, hybrid 210ish. I hit the ball with great height and a slight draw. With that said, when I am having a good ballstriking day, I hit the ball excellent. I have hit greens from 200 with my 4 iron and they hit and stop on the green. BUT, recently I have found myself hitting the ball more off the toe and with those blades, losing accuracy and distance. The most consistent club I hit is usually my driver. I generally average around 275, ocassionally I can stripe one over 300, but most of my solid hits fall btw 275-290. I hit my r9 set to the R position (the face opened 2*).

I have narrowed down my iron choices somewhat, but am open to any ideas. My list includes- Nike VR Forged, Callaway X Forged (the 2007 ones not the new ones), Mizuno MP 52, Mizuno MX 200, Nike CCI forged, Taylormade Tour Preferred, and the Callaway x 22 (tour maybe?).

I would appreciate any help. As said, I can have excellent ballstriking days, but other days I lose a bit of my game. Typically, my game is off when I hit the ball off the toe resulting in low hooks, pushes, or the right shot with less distance. Another thing, what do you think about having my irons opened 2* as well as my hybrid like my driver? As stated, I hit my driver the best. I feel so confident with it. I used to hit drivers that I had to manually open in fear of hooking it. Now, I step to the tee without the draw bias and feel so confident. Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear some thoughts soon!

the irons i play are amazing instruments; they allow for ball movement in any direction.. id recommend checking out titleist blades as well. As for having your clubs opened; i would advise against that but to each his own.. Im not even sure you could have them bent that way i mean i guess you could but ive never heard of that being done. If you feel the need for an open club face with an iron shot you could do it manually for that shot. mizuno makes great irons and so does titleist, ive never hit the nike blades but they sure look nice and so do the TaylorMade TP MB irons; ive always loved the look of those irons. Ive never hit a better iron though than the ones I play now.

Hello everyone, thank you for taking time out and stopping by to help me out!

I think you need to start by getting your loft and lies checked - and maybe some new grips (why not). There are some uneven gaps in your irons.

Otherwise get these - now!

Sure he does. He also has a team of people finetuning his equipment. He can hit new or different clubs whenever he wants. He could even ask for other golfers' opions if he wasn't under contract with Nike.

The man asks a simple ? about irons and some folks just can't keep from hammering on lessons! To each their own. I have never taken lessons and am proud of it. Yes I'm a 22 HC. I like the challenge of doing it myself. If I never bust 20 again so be it.

So true. Thats about all i hear about on this site. Instead of giving good advice(what a tip forum is for), people are saying go get lessons. I will never take a lesson to get better. If id play in tourneys then sure, so Ill keep my money for rounds of golf instead of a overprice pro just saying check your grip and swing inside out.

If you have problems on "bad days" with all your irons, you might have a swing flaw creeping into your game.

If your "bad day" problems mainly center around your lower irons (4 through 6), you might consider replacing the lower end with game-improvement irons.

Touring pros mix the blades and the GI clubs all the time.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Hello everyone, thank you for taking time out and stopping by to help me out!

Going with the ones you've listed I'd say Niki VR blades or Mizuno, but the 67's. My MacGregor 1025 V-foils seem to me a lot like the Niki VR's but I can work the ball better with the Mac's. As you can see I play mb's and love 'em although I do have a mixed set of Mizuno's MP 60 & 32's. Cb's are okay, but I like what I can do with mb's better.

If you don't mind used clubs I'd suggest Mizuno MP 33 or 67. The Mac's you could probably find for around 200 or so bux, (it wasn't a popular iron, but the quality is every bit as good as Mizuno, Niki or any top tier iron).

LOL, pros get paid to paly those clubs.

As far as "bad shots" it depends. For instance when I'm stiking the ball poorly its usually b/c I'm coming out of the shot and there isn't a club built that will help that. I'd agree though, that if your swing is poor and/or you ball stiking is the same than mb's will just drive you crazy.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
