I had all of my gear stolen and, my insurance is going to pay for my stuuf minus my extra driver, putter, bug but, it's better than nothing. Anyway, I am confused because both mizuno and, Titleist have new offerings soon and, Should I wait and, get the new mizzy mp58,s or mx300 or, mx 1000's or wait and, get the new titleist irons or, just get a replacement mp52 with proj X shafts and start playing again?

First off, sorry to hear that your gear was stolen. How'd it happen?

... I'd think that the 57's are probably a closer comparison to the AP2's. And I think that it is all feel and if your a Mizzy fan or a Titleist fan then you'll have a bias to that company's irons.

Seeing that you have already had the 52's, why not have a look at the 57's? They are incredibly smooth feeling.

How can you say that? Because they are a few yards longer than other G.I. irons?

Can you shape a shot with those irons? Not like you can with a set of player's irons...

Sorry to hear they were stolen.I'm personaly looking forward to trying the ap2s.But it will be along wait to replace your sticks.Do you have a back up set to use for now?I've never tried The Mizzuno's but after reading so many rave reviews on his site I will give them a try this fall when looking to replace my ap1s.

I think in terms of performace, playabillity and forgivness, the two are very similar. Though the only experience i have with the MP 52's is a demo 6i. The Mizunos probably have a little better feel. I havent hit them yet, but the new version of the AP2 coming out in the fall have supposedly addressed the feel issue. The model AP2 that i play has a feel that is best described as "muted"

Yeah as was said before the 57's are more like the AP2's

First off sorry to hear that you stuff got stolen that way sucks, I can only hope they impale them selves with a broken driver shaft up their rectum.

I was in this same predicament a couple months ago. I hit both the AP2's and whole line of mizzy's, nike TW blades, etc.

AP2's are solid irons, look decent at address, have a nice sound and feel. I felt that I hit them decent. But they really didn't give me overall pleasure, their very nice though. The thing I didnt like about them was my ball flight (could have been me) But they seemed to have a really low trajectory. But I dont want to steer you away they are very nice.

52's- Great feel fit my swing a bit better, but lacked the control I wanted. Still workable but to forgiving for me.

57's- were great on every field i can imagine, feel, workable, and slightly forgiving. They have a great look, very classic with a modern touch. Plus you can get them for under $500 if you look around.

62's- Felt great, but really could see any great benefit over the 57's other than being the more "current" set. Slightly more workable, but not enough to justify the extra money.

67's- 5-pw were unreal, But I couldn't afford them at that point with the shafts and such that I wanted.

I went through battles with my self trying to find the perfect club for me and ended up with the 57's and have not been sorry. They have helped my game tremendously.

Edit, while the TM burner 09s are nice, they are far from a "players" Iron. I have hit them a couple times, I'm longer with them, but they dont have any feel, they are dead strait and look goofy (to me) If you enjoy working the ball, or play a fade, draw, these will all but kill it.

Me also, hit them all at a demo day. For me it came down to the MP-67, MP-60 and AP2, I ended up going with the MP-60, the final factor was I could get them for a very reasonable price.

I really found no real performance difference between the 3 sets, except I felt I hit the AP2 with the highest trajectory, the MP-67 with the lowest trajectory and the MP-60 in the middle. I don't know exactly what shaft was in each of them so that could have played a part.

Hit them. Decide afterwards.

I never understood asking for the opinions of others on things like this. To each his own...

Both are good. If you like that "buttery" feeling when you strike the ball you can't beat Mizuno. I can't say enough good stuff about the PX shaft. The only thing I'd caution you about is that they play a half flex stiffer than rated, but that is just b/c of the stiff butt section. For instance my 5i club head speed is 85 mph and I'm a "swinger". I put PX 5.0's in my Mizzy's and they work really well. This winter I'll probably hard step them x1 though.

You could always take the insurance money and go buy a used set and pocket the difference, just a suggestion.

The MP-52s really didn't have that feel at all. I hit them. Even the -62s really didn't have that true Mizuno feel. They were kind of disappointing in that regard.

Like I said above: get what you like. Asking other people you've never met or seen play golf is pointless.

Wow, sad to read, but time marches on. I haven't hit any Mizuno's since the MP 67 came out, well other than my own.

Always interesting to see what others like, but in the end I quite agree, "get what you like".

I was also in this situation a few months ago - deciding between the Mizzuno MP 52's and the Titliest AP2's. The decision I made was the Titliest Ap2's with project X 6.0 shafts. It seems as though most of the people who replied to this post chose the mizzuno irons, but I have to tell you.. I am a golfer that was hitting G.I Cobra S9's and was looking for a better players club that would enable/force me to hit pure golf shots and not completely bury me on mishits. For me they both felt great off the mats (both only 6i demos) but I was getting a more consistent and "buttery" feeling shot on each stroke with the AP2's. In the end I'm really glad I made the choice I did. I'm hitting my irons beautifully now (took me a few months to get consistent/confident) but now I'm hitting every iron 10-15 yds farther, dead accurate and am still able to save holes on mis-hits. My buddy that I play with a lot hits the MP 57's and swears by them. Its all about what it is your looking for. Seeing as you already had MP's maybe you should stick with them. But my opinion is that you really can't go wrong with either. Since the switch in April I'm shooting 10-12 strokes better than I was previously. I absolutely love them and everyone who hits them says the same. Now if only I could putt - I'd be shooting low 80's - but thats the subject of a new thread..lol

Good luck man.. sorry to hear your sticks were stolen..Try the Titliests!!

What's the point of having this forum then

I'm taken aback by your comment "Asking other people you've never met or seen play golf is pointless". Isn't that the whole purpose of this forum? Nearly every person here on this forum have never met, yet there is the educational and entertainment value to seek opinions, exchange thoughts and ideas. If this is all so pointless, why are you even bothering to be a moderator, let alone a participant? I agree with the "get what you like part", although I think that understates the real point which is more along the lines of "Everyone's body type, swing style, and senses are different, so you need to get what is right for you and not for others". But it is important to educate oneself and learn so you can better assess what really is right for you. And getting opinions from other people - even if one has never met or played golf with them - is part of that education. An analogy can be found in art. If everyone simply stayed in a vacuum and "bought what they like", it would be rather sad. Instead, those who chose to seek opinions, learn about different styles, understand the historical context of how art fit in with society at that time, etc. you'll gain a far better understanding and will learn to like and appreciate a lot more than a poster of dogs playing poker.

For all the talk about AP2 vs Mp 52 - besides myself and my teaching pro, ive never played with anyone that uses AP2 irons... I have yet to see anyone gaming MP 52's out on the links, either. Kinda weird.
