Shot my second nine holes today. About twice as long as the municipal dirthole I shot my first nine on -- In other words a real course. *laugh* 6526-yard, 70/118 rating/slope from the whites.

I shaved six strokes off my dirthole nine. +25 for the day. Sadness. The swing I had last trip on the range stayed on the range for the most part. Still had enough 'moments'. Specifically, my first par.

360 yard Par 4. Hit a so-so 5i off the tee. Barely in the fairway, with a real good look at the pin 180 yards away. At first, I was going to be a weiner and lay up, as the green had bunkers on each side and a creek at 150 yards I wasn't sure I could clear on even a -good- shot for me.

My brain said, "Screw it! Five iron!", and I put the ball 12 feet from the pin.

Cheers, elation.... Left the birdie putt a foot short. Self-loathing, tragedy.

Congrats man. The first par feels good but just wait till you get your first birdie and then the first eagle. Keep practicing and playing and before you know it, you'll be expecting to par most holes and maybe get 4-7 per round and then start getting 1 or 2 birdies per round.

This is what I love about this game. Their are always parts of the game to improve on and goals to keep striving for.

My 11 year old daughter made her first par on a 290 yard par 4 hole. My son got his usual 14 over round, but we were all happy she made her first par after so many bogeys.

So is your handicap 18 for 9 holes? I'm confused....but congrats anyway

He's playing 9 holes and doesn't realize his handicap needs to calculated for 18.  In effect he's a 36 handicap.
