I was so hoping for a Tiger/Ernie/Paddie and others playoff...

Same here. I was hoping Steve Marino would win though. One bad hole and just a few putts not dropping and he was out of it. Played so well for three rounds too.

Marino better find a putting stroke that is susceptible to breaking down in big spots - that putting stroke is horrific. I never had one ounce of confidence in that guy today. Great Sunday of golf though - guys coming out of nowhere, Tiger coming up clutch down the stretch to get to that 6-footer at the end, Slocum hanging on for dear life. Good stuff. Still amazed that even when Tiger isn't making putts, he always winds up with a T2 or Top 5. Unreal.

This has been a really unpredictable year on the PGA. Anyone can win it seems, except Sergio, I just don't know what is wrong with him.

Now that you said that, I fully expect Sergio to dominate the Deutsche Bank!

He played a beautiful first round then the bottom fell out. That must have been a hell of a break up in March.

Great finish to a very good tournament. That course looked like loads of fun to play. Loved the layout and design with all the rolling hills and fairways.

Amazing how good Woods is that he putts kinda bad all week and is still right there. He recovers from mistakes so well.

I doubt it. I don't think he can put four rounds together with the putter.

I thought it was good to see Heath Slocum knock that 21 footer in. It was like a weird Twilight Zone after Tiger missed on 18. Do do do do, do do do do.

Funny, I was thinking when it happened that the only way that could happen to me - making a longish putt to beat Tiger - would be the situation from "A Nice Place to Visit."

is really the thing that should be taken away... Nothing against Slocum who played a great tournament ... But Tiger played pretty padestrian for his standards ... (and even at the PGA he played subpar (realitive) and barely lost), yet was a put away on 18 from a playoff.

Yeah, tee to green, he's been the same old Tiger. Maybe even better - I think his fairway percentage has been really good the last few tourneys.

But his putting of late has been average at best - certainly below typical Tiger standards.

How is shooting 67-67 on the weekend ever pedestrian, even by Tiger's lofty standards? He had a great tournament, but Slocum did one shot better.

He missed some putts (one for eagle in the final round, one at the last hole) that we are accustomed to seeing him make and capitalize on.

Everyone has commented on that and qualified it with his putting wasn't great. He didn't drain anything over 15' the entire tournament. Was great everywhere else on the course but couldn't get a couple bombs to drop. And the missing a 6' to get into a playoff. Not used to seeing Tiger do that.

Everyone agrees he was great. Just his putter wasn't great. And so those 67's could have easily been 65 or 64's.

well to be fair he did make one 15 fter today.

but yes, the point is Tiger has left -a lot- of shots on the course that the general public and Tiger are used to seeing him convert, and yet poof he's 1 1 2 2 in his last 4 tourneys

just amusing that we're saying things like "oh well Tiger just hasn't been putting well at all lately" and yet he's still stringing together 67's

imagine what we'd be saying if tiger made puts at the US Open and the PGA and the last few weeks ...

he could have won this tourny by 5 shots and the pga easily by that much.

Any player on the pga tour can say 'if my game had come together i would have won the tournament by 5 shots etc', so true, if Tiger had putted well he would have won the tournament easily. Steve Marino could have said the same thing post tourney, and we could include Ian Poulter in this too.

Equally, Phil could say, 'if I had hit more fairways and more greens i would have won the Barclays by a mile'. Tiger is a little out of sorts by his own lofty standards..if it's not one thing it's something else- this is why he is not his usual imperious self.

Marino or Sticker should have won this thing. I only saw one putt made the final 9 holes. The winning putt. For par. Boo.

How bizarre is it now that "subpar golf" means he didn't make as many birdies and eagles as we're used to seeing? Shouldn't that be over-par, or at least at-par, golf?

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
