Can anyone dumb down wedge bounce to me?

I get the idea of the numbers next to your degrees. I realize I want a lower number when hitting off of fairways, more for rough, and the most for sand trap. but I have not the slightest idea what that it does. They are all vokey wedges. I have a 52.08, a 56.11, and a 62.07 (picked this one up today)

thanks for the pictures, though wish I could comprehend them more.

and all of those are from my home course. Its a shorter links style course. I've played that course for 3+ years and I know every single trick and trade of it. On just about all other courses i'm a mid to high 80s shooter.

Your understanding of bounce, as stated in your first post, is the "dumbed" down version. If you understand those basics of bounce what more do you need to know and why? If you really want a detailed analysis type "wedge bounce" in your google search field and do some reading.
If you can hit good wedge shots from various lies then who cares what bounce means.

Bounce is mainly used for different lies and the types of courses you play. It also depends on how you play wedges. Generally if the types of course you play have hard pan on fairways, especially during winter, the smaller bounce will help dig into the ground and have better contact with the ball. higher bounce helps with places with spongy pan.

Same thing with bunkers, is your bunker hard or nice and fluffy?

Also ask yourself are you a sweeper or digger? If you sweep more then digg, maybe a lower bounce would be more beneficial, and vice versa.

For most people standard bounce is the safest way to go, unless you are sure of what type of bounce you want.

Its just a rough way to explain but i hope it helps.

its actually not always optimal to have high bounce in a bunker... only if its fluffy. hard pack sand you would want less. also when you open the face it adds a bit of bounce. but all in all what you said is crash course in bounce.

Keep in mind you dont always want a low bounce for the fairway and a highbounce for the rough. For example if you have a steeper swing (digger) you will want a high bounce wedge to help you get out of the grass were a low bounce will cause the club to get stuck. If you have a more shallow swing (sweeper) you will want a lower bounce so that the club doesnt bounce in to the ball
