dont forget that the guys on tour deloft their irons by several degrees when they hit. the 7 iron we hit is like a 5 for them when you factor in that theyre delofting it so much.

I had no idea this was the case. I'll not be quite so hard on myself for a 170 7 iron.

First of all, they don't make the loft that much lower. It's about two to three degrees, and loft isn't the only thing that seperates irons. The length adds centrifugal force, and yada yada yada. Also, there balls are a lot softer then ours.

I was talking with an old pro out at Austin Country Club one time about wrist cock, and wrist angles, etc...

He said there was to much emphasise placed on it, and that there was a lot to be said about "clean contact". I think Mr. stricker is the poster boy for hitting it solid. I think clean contact with a square club face will translate into distance. However I know plenty of guys that swing the club 120 mph that cant hit it out of their shadow.

At the firestone tournament I was talking to AK's personal trainer Darby, and he said the thing that amazes him the most is that when AK tried some of the balls that the amateur used it added 10 yards.

Well this just blows my mind, so you're saying that the pros DO NOT use the off the shelf balls. They say they do. This is very interesting. I'm still skeptical.

I think he was talking about cheap "rock" type of balls that are designed for distance (Pinnacles etc) compared to Pro V1s. Pros do use off the shelf balls.

If AK hit a (fi.) Pinnacle ball 10 yards further, why would that amaze Darby? Wouldn't he be a person that knew the difference of a soft multi layer ball and a harder less layered one?
