My biggest fear is that this will lead to one of our young up'n'comers, like Emelin, to lose ice time.

To the OP: sorry to hijack the thread but believe me this news IS going to be alcohol related for Habs fans.

Where ever BostonSully is right now, I'm willing to bet he's smiling!

I drank a nice bottle of wine tonight then went barefoot putting under a full moon. Thoroughly recommend!

It was my birthday on Friday, and I went out with my twin sister and some of her friends. I usually don't join them for anything involving alcohol; they're all about shooters and syrupy drinks with seven ingredients, while I'd prefer to sip something stiff and simple.

Case in point: when one of my sister's friends offered to buy a round of drinks, and the other male at the table and I voiced our preference for bourbon, she ordered us both Ketel One on the rocks. Much like the subjects of the famous Milgram Experiment , everybody at the table knew that she was messing up the drink order, but none of us had the courage to make a correction. Realizing her error sometime later, she made it up by ordering a second round of Lindsay Lohans.

(That's a Red-Headed **** with a splash of Coke, in case you didn't know.)

I needed to order a Rusty Nail after that, if only to reclaim my manhood after shooting something called a Lindsay Lohan.

Drinking a respectable amount of Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky, a South AfricanΒ grain whisky. It's really good. And cheap (compared to imported Scotch). Which is good too.

I love that guys video! How much did the Bain's run you?Β  I am just getting into different types of whiskeys and Highland Park 12 scotch has beenΒ  my favorite so far. I want to try some Glenfiddich next but that stuff looks interesting.Β  Not sure I'd be able to get it in the US though.

It's about 150 rand here, which is around $19. By comparison, Johnny Walker Black is about 230 rand, Glenfiddich 12 about 300 rand, Highland Park 12 about 430 rand, Lagavulin 16 about 800 rand.

Don't think it is distributed in the US, but if it was you'd probably expect to pay about $40 based on the UK export price of 25 pounds. Less of a good deal.

Thumbs up for Highland Park 12 anyway. Good value, great stuff. Might suggest trying an Islay whisky next if you haven't already, just to see if you like the peatier expressions. Laphroaig 10 is always a good bet.

Haven't tried this (available in Canada?) but it's interesting to see that they've received the legal right to call it whisky as opposed to whisk ey, to my knowledge, the only distilleries outside of Scotland to have been awarded that distinction in the past areΒ Canada (Glen Breton) and Japan.

To Darkhunter - IMHO Glenfiddich is really only worth it if you go for the high end of their scale. There are some excellent single malts at roughly the same price point as the basic 12yr old Glenfiddich that will give you far more bang for your buck. Recently (in Canada at least) Bowmore has dropped in price making it an excellent choice and it will certainly give you a taste of the more, shall we say, assertive tasting scotch.

I know I've gone on record stating that Johnny Walker is over rated and I generally avoid it however, I would like to modify my position to allow for unforeseen extenuating circumstances ie: if Christina Hendricks is serving it, I'm drinking it;-) HUBBA HUBBA DING DING!!

Sweet I will be on the lookout for Islay, and Bowmore.

I want to try Highland Park 18 as well, I heard that was kind of their staple, have you guys tried that?
